Yes it is.. A chrome painted R35. Does it looks good actually??

CARTHUSIAST
The owner of this car initially painted it in white, but got fed up of the boring color, so instead of slapping on another boring coat of auto paint, he decided to get chrome wraps for it. With a couple other modifications such as a rear diffuser and darkened lights, among other things…this is a pretty “outstanding” ride. Doesn’t look bad at all.

very very very nice, especially with the black wheels! Although i have to admit it does come with a certain "as if you would?" factor if anyone gets what i mean.

Isnt that illegal? I heard that you couldnt paint cars chrome because it reflects the sunlight and blinds other drivers.

No, it doesn't look bad at all, in fact I think it looks awful. He didn't like the original colour, so he painted it white which he also didn't like so he wrapped it in what's tantamount to tin foil. Still, if he gets sick of this colour he can stick it in the oven at 180'C for an hour and it'll turn brown. Also I cannot abide people calling cars 'rides'. It screams that someone really doesn't know an awful lot about cars when using this term. Rant over, carry on.

If you've seen the top gear episode season 14 episode 2, they make an electric car and Jeremy decides to build it out of aluminum. When they tested the car, not only did they almost get blinded but turned into steaks from the heat.

It's a wrap, not painted on... so if the cops pull him over... he could just peel it off .. *cough* remember in the movie, Taxi where the Brazilian bandits ripped off the wraps of their car to change it's color?

And please change the thread name. That isn't a Skyline.

I know that they're no longer carrying the ''Skyline'' badge but since most websites and even Carthusiast.com itself call this car a Skyline, then why not if I call this a Skyline to keep its heritage??

WIKIPEDIA
Between 1969 and 1974, and again between 1989 and 2002, Nissan produced a high performance version of its Skyline range called the Nissan Skyline GT-R. This car proved to be iconic for Nissan and achieved much fame and success on road and track. The Nissan GT-R, although no longer carrying the "Skyline" badge, has heritage in the Nissan Skyline GT-R. Like the Skyline GT-Rs R32 through R34, the Nissan GT-R is all-wheel drive with a twin-turbo 6 cylinder engine; however, the evolutionary, incremental changes between Skyline models R32 through R34 have been done away with. The four-wheel-steering HICAS system has been removed, and the former straight-6 RB26DETT engine has been replaced with a new V6 VR38DETT. Because of the GT-R's heritage, the chassis code for the all-new version has been called CBA-R35, or 'R35' for short, carrying on the naming trend from previous Skyline GT-R generations. The GT-R has also retained its Skyline predecessor's nickname Godzilla.

Owh!! I knew that movie :D The Brazilian bandits drove the BMW 750/760Li and they changed the colour from Red to Blue. Brilliant!! And the driver (Queen Latifah I think the name) crashed her Crowne Victoria :p

Because it's so much more than that. Previous Skylines always had more sedate versions in their line-ups. Furthermore, Nissan do currently sell a Skyline model which, to my knowledge, shares little or nothing with the GTR. Just because websites insist on mis-naming it doesn't make it right.

I'm sure that Nissan is proud of the Skyline heritage but I think the GTR badge earns a lot more respect amongst car fans.

Ah well since you're from Japan, then I will have to agree with you. My bad and I'll change the thread name. How to change it by the way??

Do yourself a favour and watch the original French Taxi if you haven't already. It's much much much much, times a million, better than the remake.

LOL yeah have watched them too.. the Taxi 1,2,3 and finally 4. But my favourite so far is the 2nd and the 3rd and the most boring is the 4th.

They are hilarious, brilliant and way brilliant than the remake but the problem is, they're French and I don't understand a word (No subtitle) :indiff:

Actually most remakes never lived up to the originals.. e.g. The Italian Jobs, Taxi, even though the 2000 version of Gone In 60 Seconds was still awesome... it wasn't as fun as the first.

Not a fan of any car done up in chrome, it just looks like someone's gotten 50 rolls of al-foil and tried to hide, for whatever reason, a half-decent colour under it. Couldn't he have just gone for something more...what's the word...tasteful?

How to change the thread name: Edit, then advanced edit and the top bar is to change the thread name.

Already been in the Questionable mods thread.

Honestly, I don't like chrome cars because, inevitably, they get scuffed and scratched, and chrome doesn't hide scratches like standard paint does.

that, and it's gaudy.

Chrome cars look way better in-person than they do in photos. I don't think this car looks too bad in the pictures, so it probably looks cool in-person. That is, until the swirl marks arrive after the first washing :ouch:.

I said it once and I'll say it again, I like this car. I love the GT-R and the chrome just makes it different. I'd take it in a second.

Skylines were always held back by the "Gentlemans Agreement" (power restriction to 202kw or less), however it was thrown out shortly after the r34 finished production with the 350z being first to take advantage of this (power went up by like only 10-20hp though). I think because of the freedom Nissan had with the new GT-R, that must of been why they ditched the Skyline badge.

Also isn't that chrome just vinyl, like on the old Autosalon Industrie Racing Drift Australia s15.

Any one else have the urge to play NFS Most wanted after looking at that.

The Good: You don't need any big chrome rims!
The Bad: You have to write a check for the glasses of all the drivers you go by!
Pretty Impressive.
