Circular Licence Test Problems

I'm up to about 93% completion in GT3 at the moment but I got bored so started golding the licences. I managed gold in domestic A and B fairly easily apart from the circular tracks. No matter how tight I hug the ring and how smoothly I drive I always end up about 4 tenths off gold and it's really bugging me.

Is there some technique I should be trying that I'm not? Some simple method of being as fast as possible? I really would like to gold these few tests before I start on the international ones.

Regards, Chris

Try using manual and starting in second or third gear, it should gain that extra .4 on the wet tracks.

Seems to me that you wouldn't necessarily want to take the tightest line around the circle... you're then expending more traction for turning than acceleration (albeit along a shorter line). That's why, for example, when you make a turn when racing, you go for the line with the greatest radius, instead of simply the shortest line.

If I remember correctly, the "demo" for that test takes an elliptical route – going straighter on some portions, and tighter on others. I could be wrong though...

Nice tips. Guess I should've thought about watching the demo

Will give it another try in a while. Just finishing the tuscan series at the moment.

Cheers 👍

Always stay on the inside of the turn and right when you're about to finish, give your car full throttle. That ought to do it.

Basically, treat the circle as two corners.

Outside//Inside//Outside is the best technique you can use.

For both corners, start on the outside and keep the accelerator at a point where you can steer freely and adjust as required.

You'll want to hit the inside of the turn about midway through the semicircle, and then the outside after arcing a full semi circle. Do the same thing for the second circle and repeat the process as required. If you maintain good control of the car, you should have no problems acing the gold.

Why do North Americans want to break up 1 corner into two all the time.
They do it at oval courses where 2 turns become 4 and apparantly at round tracks of constant radius where one turn just became 2.
You have to be aggressive yet smooth on the circular tests. Start in 2nd gear and when you can see the finish line on the last lap floor it and let the car drift out wide while building speed. Putting the inside front wheel on the curb adds to grip and you can maintain a slightly higher corner speed. Practice throttle input and steering input and try to maintain a conatant speed all the way around.
The 60 metre radius tests are harder so may be do the 100 m test first.

I'm not American Uncle Harry. I'm breaking it up into two corners so it's easiest to understand. If you want to treat it as one corner, it's still the same technique. Outside/Inside/Outside. Just make sure you're at the outside by the end of the license, or else you would not have used enough of the track to your advantage.

Half race drift. I said North American not American. I always thought Canada was on the Continent of North America as well as the USA and thus Canidians would be North American as well.
Sorry if I upset you, I never meant to call you an American. It must be just the Yanks then that like to break corners up.
I find it hard to break the circle tracks up as there are not that many features that look different as you go around until you get to the Finish line.

Lol, silly stuff !!! But im gunna have to agree with half race drift, im not sure about the whole breaking up of a circular track thing :sly: but your definetly gunna want to keep as tight a line as possible around the track while accellerating and letting off and then accelerating like he said.

I believe on the big one u should only be getting up to like 82 mph and then letting off but i don't quiet remeber!!! try it out !!! :)

Seems starting in 2nd gear and hugging the circle worked a treat. Knocked atleast a second off my previous attempts.

Thanks very much all :)

Guys, the most important thing is to get off the start line well. You can easily gain almost half a second on the gold demo car this way.

Had no real problems with AT passing this test, I got a 48.4 in test 1 just by getting a good start and using the kerb while hugging the inside.
