Class C Challenge

Now I haven't had the game very long, but I'd rather not spend too much time on class C. I am however struggling with the challenge where you overtake all the cars on the speedway. My driving is smooth, following a good line with all aids of in a Honda Integra yet I keep finishing second, and a full second behind the leader, any tips?
 
You don't need to gold it to progress to B Class. I can't remember whether or not it's possible in professional physics mode. Are you driving with aids on or off and which physics mode?

Get into as many car's slipstreams as you can. When you're into the first corner overtake as many cars as you can from the inside (off the bank if you have too), I think I overtook 4. As soon as you're onto the straight get into the car's slipstreams again, dive out to overtake and immediately get back into a slipstream again. Expect to do this several times... but if you've done it well you should only have 2 cars in front of you by the end of the straight. Get into the 2nd place car's slipstream in mid-second corner, and you should be able to overtake it on the inside half way through the corner. From then on you should have gained enough speed to beat the first place car by at least 1.5 seconds.

And yes, I done this will all aids off, Pro, Manual
 
I actually re-did this mission last night. You need to slipstream between all the cars. Literally along the straights I was swerving left and right slotting between cars to maximise the slipstream. At the end of the back straight I was overtaking the last "pack" which I can't remember if that is second or third place. The other way is to cheat and drive through the pits at the end of the lap and that gains you a bit of time.
 
Thanks for the quick advise guys. I wasn't really slipstreaming much, and as I got to the last corner I had 2 ahead, so I might go back and try once I've finished all the other events in the class. I'm doing the one lap pace with the suzuki cappacino right now, and dam this car is a pile of crap, so much so that the AI nicely takes me out mid corner occasionally, but it's not too hard.

Just tried it and was only a tenth off, after some lunch I'll get the gold. Thanks dude.
