So, yesterday I entered the Classic Muscle Car championship in the Amateur series with my 'Cuda 440 6 Pack, just over 400hp. I expected to be racing with stock cars but no, they all bomb past and the only way I can make up time on them is through the corners. They must be on 500hp at least, probably more. Now, my dilemma is that I HATE upgrading cars, I like to keep them stock so I assume I would need a powerful enough classic muscle car to outrun them.
I can think of the Buick Special, Mustang Trans-Cammer and the Art Morrison Corvette. I take it these cars are allowed in this competition?

I just wish it gave you the hp of the cars before you enter the race and so that way you'd have a better idea of what car to bring.

Thanks.

Seriously, do you look beyond your nose? There is a nice button for that.

I will never understand people who don't upgrade their cars. Half the fun of the game for me is upgrading them.

The Cuda is plenty powerful enough as are all the other Muscle cars. The problem is the gearing. Get a fully adjustable trans and raise the top speed by 30-40 mph and you will be fine in pretty much any of them.

The only ones that are superfast stock are the Cobra, the Buick Special and the Trans Cammer Mustang. Not sure if any of these show up in the race. The other Muscle cars all have more power than the gear will allow them to go so by simply raising the gear you can beat them with ease. Also make sure you have decent tires.

Because for the A-Spec races its a waste of money, they all can be defeated with a stock car with good tires, not even with as much HP as the top one on "Typical Opponents". If you're into it and want to take a lower level car and mod it to compete with cars it should be slower than, go for it if thats your thing, but you don't need to do that, and many people don't bother. It gives me more money to buy cars I like when they pop up in the UCD.

All my cars are stock except a RM'd ZR1 and the cars I had to mod to beat the Seasonal Events.

...There is a button on every race that tells you the stats of typical cars found in that race. The AI does have modified cars. Surprise!

What tires are you using? You could probably get away with Racing Soft tires in that race. That will put you up there. I beat this with a stock Z28 which has 100 less HP but I believe I had race tires on it.

Please share where I can find this nice button.

Right next to the race requirements. It tells you what you can typically expect to find yourself up against in any race.

What he said!

Thanks, Tommy. I'll try using race tyres although I still can't understand how they can shoot past me on the straights simply by having racing tyres rather than standard sport tyres. Sure, the grip is much better but how does that affect the top speed?

I agree the AI must have modified cars. I ran my stock 69 Z28 and could not reel in the leader (who was also a 69 Z28). He was much faster on the straights, due to gearing (maybe he had motor mods as well, I don't know).

I also agree that I'm not a big modding fan. I like small mods (air filter, ecu tune, etc), but I'm not someone to max out a RX7 or something.

You mean like "No limitations", "Max. hard tyres" etc?

Almost, try another button, i think it will say competition

I'm not sure because my PS3 is talking Dutch

Its more so acceleration, they accelerate out of the corner on to the straight far faster than you on better tires, if you're running crap tires they are just not gripping and you lose that acceleration. So hence they get ahead faster, and being you have the same car if they hit top speed sooner they are gonna pull away.

It's a small square button right in between the tire requirements and the race requirements button.

It is all in the gearing. Most muscle cars are not very fast with stock gears and have way more than enough power for the gear. Even adding 1000 hp will not help much but a simple gear change will work wonders.

Oh my, we are talking about a amateur race, you will have a serious challenge when u reach the higher levels! Just as the game needs to be! 👍
