Clearing cache = loosing credit/money?

First of all I'm new to video games and PS3. I don't know very much when it comes to electronics :-) so if I sound dumb about my questions, I apologize in advance.

I tried playing GT5 last night and it was soooooooooooooooooooo slow in loading times. I've noticed that it gets slower everyday, but last night takes the cake. It took 10 mins to do anything (go to the lobby, go to home screen, go to a spec etc.) Sometimes the game would freeze. I took out the game and restarted the ps3 and it was still acting slow. I popped in a different game and played it for a few minutes, then popped GT5, it started and acting a little faster, but still slower than normal. I was thinking of clearing the cache of the game, but I've been working really hard and saving up for a car. I have a good amount of money/credit that I don't want to loose. Does anyone know if you clear the cache of the game, do you loose the credits/money?

Anyone have any ideas? any help is greatly appreciated.

you lose only the money from B-spec RR(if you haven't collected) but not your money
 
As far as I'm aware, there is no penalty for clearing the cache. I do it regularly, mainly to help online game play with GT5 and, I've only experienced improved game play.

If you have any doubts, why not copy your game save to a flash-drive first? It's probably a good strategy to do this regularly as a matter of course in any event and should anything happen you can reload your save.

To clear the cache in game you access it from the settings screen from the initial load-up/news screen.
 
I have the same problem and found out mine is ps3 related, nothing to do with the game.

Clearing the cache can't hurt anything though, as stated I would backup first just in case.

I really want to say that's not true, as I cleared my cache last week but I have not touched my remote drivers in a few weeks. They still have all their money although I would want another person to confirm as well.

Clay, I noticed that my GT5 is loading slower too. When you write that your problem is PS3 related, I think I may have the same problem. But, what is the problem and is there a solution?

I have the slim PS3 and I run a fan in front of it everytime I use it...
 
how do you clear the cache on the ps3???
 
Loading times are a lot longer when you have several hundred cars in your garage, and a lot of other items like paintchips etc. My PS3 now takes a lot more time to start GT5 than it did when I started playing.
 
First, you do not loose any money by clearing the chache. Second, when you first go the game did you copy the GT5 Game Files onto your PS3 Hard Drive. If you didn't then that could be one reason why the game takes so long to load up. Do a Game Save onto a flash drive then go back and go to the setup section of GT5 and scroll through until you find the section dealing with copying GT5 game files onto your Hard Drive. Do it, then exit out of the Game and reload it again and see if that improves your loadup times.
