I got an idea that might be pretty funny but I don't know if it's feasible. Ok so I remember someone asking if we could add sound to our avatars. To me no I would not like this but what you could do is click on their avatars if they wanted and see their avatar while the sound is playing. So for instance if I had an animated gif of dodgeball someone would click on my avatar and while the clip is playing you could hear the dodgeballs pegging the guy up side the head.👍

That sounds cool and all.... but uh, its a bit weird lol. what would be funny is if you could have a pic of H2 hummer ( :yuck: ) with huge chrome rims, and when clicked you hear a guy puking. :sly:

No, I really don't think that would be a very good addition to the site.

I wouldn't mind being able to set my avatar to a dynamically generated png file hosted off server. That way, I could have the php embedded within the image change it to whatever i want at times set by my pc

Loudmusic had something similar setup long, long ago so that his webcam could send images as his GTP avatar, but I imagine that must've been a pain for Jordan to setup. Still, I agree that it would be kinda cool.

It might take up added space on the server, which wouldn't be a good thing. I'm sure that you could do that in javascript, and even have it so that it doesn't have any major effect on the load time whatsoever (a simple onClick function that referenced an external js that called for the sound to play when the avatar reloaded would do the job nicely). I'm pretty sure that there could also be an option in the control panel that said whether or not you wanted to hear the sounds when you clicked the avatars. I'd have to look into it, but an extra line in the cookie would suffice (maybe have it as an option every time you log in).

Just for the record, I wouldn't use this option, I'm merely suggesting a simple way it could be done.

I'm not a fan of of it personally.
And it could increase the page loading times also.

Has anyone imagined what a page on GTP would sound like if 20 members also had sound in their Flash-created avatars?

No thank you; just convert your Flash file to animated GIF, and live without the noise. Jordan's also got a sense of good taste, so I'm not worried this will come to pass.

As was stated in the first post, in order to hear the sound you must click on the avatar.
