Clio sport rally car...

I was messing around with turning the Clio sport V6 24v into a rally car. Worked pretty well and with around 320 HP and some minor settings changes it seems to be competitive with the 206 at least, with some tuning could get around 1:23 on Swiss Alps, which is around the first place time tiral for that stage (tranny / suspension / brakes / exaust / chip / NA1 / flywheel / 3 plate clutch /Lightwiehgt 3 / Tuned so it works on dirt, or and dirt tires).


Anyone else have any exiperiences with turning a MR car into an effective rally-er(IE pugeot 406)?
 
i use all rally cars as racing cars and anything that can go rally i let it have its fun...:)...

if i could make mybrids i would change every relatively good hatch into a mr 4wd vehicle... i have been inspired by groupe b rally cars...
 
I did the same thing with an Opel Speester (of all the cars) it max's out around 300 HP(which aint good) but at 298 i ran a 1:17 on the swiss alps. JEEZE. Shame the car is really squirly (no TCS or ASM), so its way to easy to spin.

You have to try that one, buy it, fully mod it, and set it for rallying. When driving, go easy and dont push hard, your lines will be smoother and you will drive faster(at least in this car, every time i push hard i end up not knowing where i am facing)
 
lol the speedster is my favorite car for drifting racing and of course rallying... yeah i know what you mean witht he squirly part... but i am really use to this car... great on anything...

I dont remember if you can rally the ZZII. It is the only car in the game with that setup, but i dont think there were any group B rallye cars that were Mid-all, the Quattro was Front-All and the 406 was mid-rear, the lancia front rear i think. Which was mid-all if there was one, and why didnt it challange anyone?

And yes, Group B rocked the Hizzouse, which is why we need the Sport Quattro, Sport Quattro Rally car and S1 Pikes Peak Quattro Rally car(fastest front engine and fastest production based car to the top, a few "production" cars have beat it[IE Mid engine, AWD, V8, custom frame supra!?!?!?!]) in the game

well the ford rs200 was a mid engine 4wd... was homologated for grouppe but never got to compete as it ended in 85
the pegeout 205 turbo 16 was mid 4wd
the rover metro 6r4 was also mid 4wd
the lancia montecarlo 37
the lancia delta s4 was also mid 4wd

that is off hte top of my head
 
well i said something but didnt go through... so here it is again

the rs 200 never saw any action... it would have kicked ass if it did... it had a relatively large amount of technology for its day... light as hell... with 300 horses it had a 0-60 in i htink 3 something and with 800 it has a 0-60 of 2.3s... that is dam fast and dam brilliant
 
I know, but they were all like that. The S1 did 0-60 on gravel in 2.6 and the 406 did it in a flat 2.0, and it was Mid-rear, not even AWD.

Of course that is why it was canceled... Shame really, had they put some regulation on it, it would have thrived. Secondly, where else are you going to see 2.1L 1000 HP engines(Granted the car wouldnt turn with that much power, but still)

The last season of Group B was 1986, most of the supercars debuted in 1985 (Delta S4, Metro and the RS200) The Audi and 205T16 had been around in forms since 1983/4.

RS200 saw a full seasons action in the 86 World Rally Championship, and won the British Open Championship in 86. Stock power was 250bhp, Rally cars started at 380bhp.

First of all, it was a 405. The 405T16 was Mid engined and 4WD. It was introduced in 1987 (after group B was cancelled) and was used at Pikes Peak and on the Paris - Dakar Rally.

There's a video of Ari Vatanen in the 405 at Pikes Peak called Climb Dance. It's 68mb, but well worth the download if you can find it.

Second of all (cheers daan :D), the Ford RS200 was also mid-engined 4WD (as were ALL the Group B rally cars) and competed in several rallies. The accident involving a Ford RS200 at Rally Portugal in 1986 which killed 7 spectators was essentially the death knell for the group - it was already in question when Henri Toivanen crashed his Lancia S4 (mid-engined, 4WD) and killed himself and his co-driver...

And I've got a video of Stig Blomqvist in the Ford RS200 at Rally Acropolis 1986 (the car retired after stage 15, I believe).
 
i always thought that the rs200 never completed a gourppe b rally... well that is what i get for reading unreliable sources on the internet... can i get that vid famine... no all grouppe b cars were mid 4 the audi wasnt... hey could i get htat vid somehow famine???
 
bengee - Try KaZaA, or the like. I used to have my wallpaper at work as a massive shot of Blomqvist taking a hairpin at Acropolis '86 - only ONE wheel was on the ground...!

Really, if anyone had ever made a mid-AWD car with 68/32 weight distribution id be seriously suspect to what they stuck in the front of the car.
