Further explanation of the theme, as described by bmxmitch:

"I had one as 1:18 model and one awesome carrera car. I think there wasn't another car I
loved more in my childhood. The C9 Silberpfeil!
It's also the car I used the most in GT5. Its performance is just too good.
And it is damn fast. I think it was one of the fastest race-cars at its time. 398 kph!!!!"

CAR: Sauber Mercedes C9 Race Car '89.
LOCATION: Circuit de la Sarthe (weather change).
UNIQUE RESTRICTIONS: No night shots! Dusk and dawn is allowed, rain too.
You also can park it if you want, but seing it at high speed would suit the theme best IMO. :)

  • It's recommended the usage of a free image hosting service, such as ImageShack, Photobucket
    or Flickr.
  • If you want your entry to have a link to your full sized image in the poll, make your preview
a link to the full sized photo.
  • Only the Judge's favorite 15 entries will get through to the poll.
  • Keep in mind that the Host of this competition may ask for the original image and it must
    be submitted if so.

It's recommended to store the original image (from the USB stick) until competition week ends.

What you may not to do a photo:
  • Alter the geometry of the car. No stickers, or body modifications not available in game.
  • Add shapes or objects from outside of GT5, signatures excepted.
  • Remove items from shot (scenery, other cars).
  • Use more than 1 image (HDR, photo-stitching, multi-exposure).
  • Add effects that make the picture look something other than a photograph.
What you may do to a photo:
  • Crop and/or resize an image.
  • Adjust the level or curve values.
  • Alter the colour tone of the image (gradient maps, photo filters, colour balance, etc).
  • Adjust brightness, contrast, exposure, shadow/highlights.
  • Enhance shadows or highlights (dodge and burn tools in Photoshop, for example).
  • Add noise and/or diffuse glow.
  • Add a post-game tilt-shift blur, or apply a motion blur to a stationary Photo Travel shot.
  • Make use of Layer Blend Modes.
  • Use a Sharpening filter and/or tool.
  • Scale or enlarge rims.
  • Remove or modify license plates.
  • Remove the GT watermark.

I believe the C9 actually hit 400 km/h during practice for the 1989 Le Mans. Awesome car 👍

EDIT: Also very, very related:

I really enjoy my post #1,000 quoting this information from wikipedia.
Reaching 248.0 mph (400 km/h) during the qualifying sessions of the 1989 24 Hours of Le Mans, the Sauber C9 has set one of the fastest top speeds ever in the history of the competition at Le Mans. These speeds led to the cessation on the huge Le Mans Mulsanne Straight and the introduction of two chicanes, from 1990 onwards.

^Post 1000 to week100! Fits perfect. :)👍

And I hope to see some awesome stuff again this week. Well, I'm pretty sure you guys deliver again. i can't wait to see them all! :dopey:

I think I have to pass this week. Not because of the expected awesome shots, but because I don't have the car and my GT5 handling is corrupt. :grumpy:

👍 Totally transported by all these fine pics!!
Unfortunately the GT5 rendering of this vehicle is lacking of perfection.
Have a look at the real nose (nare) in relation to the Mercedes logo on the front hood and the reflections on the windshield…
just my two cents :)

A great car and some great entries so far guys. Liking them a lot. 👍

Ohh, if anyone needs the car, I'll put mine on share. ;)

I don't have it :/

How does the share feature work? Haven't ever needed to use it.

Edit* although I am not sure why I should even bother, with the entrys that have already been posted my shot probably wont even be considered lol.

Final entry

Damn...why did I have to post right after Nato 👍

For a standard, the Sauber Merc is one of the best rendered. Great job ijkhk4, Nato and Zambuca - beautiful work.

So many great Entries already!👍

Thanks for the headache I will have tomorrow guys....:boggled:

I will be happy if I reach the poll, that's it. I have no chance of even getting a podium... Such amazing entries.
