DarkR was selected as the Judge's Choice winner last week, and he decided that this week ought to be a Manipulation Week.

DarkR also scored a win in the public vote, and the theme he has selected is Steampunk!

Further explanation of theme, which is chosen by Week 47 Winner, DarkR:

Take your favorite car, and with the help of Photoshop and your imagination transform it into a steampunk car. For a little inspiration, you can always count on Google!

And remember... be creative and have fun!

  • Photoshop or another image editing program MUST be used.
  • Each entry must have some part from a Photomode picture from Gran Turismo 5.
  • One entry per user. It must be your own work, and never previously used in a comp.
  • It is recommended you host your image on ImageShack, Photobucket, or Flickr.
  • Not sure how to post a thumbnail or preview image? Read this sticky!
  • Mark your FINAL ENTRY clearly, with red text.
  • When submitting, use either a thumbnail or a preview image, linked to the full-sizer.
  • No full-size images posted in thread; your entry will be ignored.
  • A preview image is not only allowed, but encouraged! However, preview images can
not exceed 500 pixels in either direction. This includes borders or drop shadow effects.
  • Winner of the public vote gets to choose the theme for the following week.
  • Public vote winners also get to select the top 12 entries for the poll the following week.
  • When selecting the top 12 entries the following week, the theme chooser will also select a
"Judge's Choice" winner, the entry which they feel has best captured the theme.
  • The Judge's Choice winner gets to choose whether the following week will be either a
Graphics Week or a Manipulation Week.
  • A graphics week will be primarily graphic design and layout based, for example magazine
    covers, or movie posters.
  • A manipulation week will be primarily based on photo manipulation, for example creating
race cars in game, or making multi-car composites.
  • Winners cannot enter in their own theme!

Being a Photoshop competition, there are no limits on editing. Use every tool at your disposal to
create the desired effect. Feel free to utilise HDR techniques, photo stitching, whatever you like!
Your only real restriction is that you must use some part of a GT5 Photomode image!
The main thing to remember is to be creative and have fun!

Sorry to say SLZK but Half assed is not what I would call completley ripping someone else's work i.e. artist John ‘Jazz’ Vernon.
He used the gear vinyl and actually adjusted it so it looked better, other than that and it being a camaro, I don't see how he ripped off the quite poor chopping that the Artist did.

^^....well I started working on something about 5 hrs ago using the VW Beetle and then what do you know?? a real life pic gets posted :ouch:.
I'll prob still use it but its kinda taken the wind outta my sails....that said the one above doesn't really look 'Steampunk' tbh ....more 'Garden Centre' I think.

I don't see what your saying as the artist image is completely original unlike slzk's which is a complete Plagiarism, just putting it on a different car and adding a few dots of colour to represent rivets is not new work.
And no it doesn't look better

So what your'e saying is adding rivets, changing a bit of color and adding in a gear facet isn't plagiarism of Chevy's original image of the Camaro ? and This watch company's picture ?

Did you find him crediting them for these ? Umm, i can't find anything.
Basically you're accusing slzk of taking an idea and making it better by doing the same thing the original artist did and adding more to it. slzk's looks tons better than wrong perspective rims.

Its not a question of taking an idea its a question of taking complete chunks out of a piece of car art (which is what we are here for) and then transplanting them onto your own shot passing it off as your own hard work and making it look almost exactly the same...
There is no skill in that anyone can copy and paste, I thought we were about originality and this theme lends itself to that, not just parroting someone elses idea and image already on the same theme..

So yet again, you're essentially saying, Make everything from scratch except for the GT5 picture, don't use any resources or else it's copy and paste. K, got it.
Also, have you ever heard of the word inspiration?

I haven't said make everything from scratch but there is a case for not copying almost directly someone else's work which is what I have been saying all along.
The two images are almost IDENTICAL, Its not about where you get your resources but HOW you use them and in this case there has been no imagination used, he could have used different clockwork pieces taking his "inspiration" from the other image instead of just transplanting it.

  • Plagiarism is defined in dictionaries as the "wrongful appropriation," "close imitation".

You see close imitation there? Yeah. Mine is totally the same as the one I used for 'material'
So taking one part of that and doing it in the same angle is called completely ripping someone else's work off. Right.
Yes, I did take the cogs off the side panel but it is, changed in a bit.
And yes, I did take the whole picture from the side. It's because everything would be so much easier to do, and yes, that image did inspire my entry. I had time constraints and this is what I could come up with.
You said my image is almost identical? Yeah. Other than that little panel area, tell me which or what is identical. Is the entire Camaro just an overlaid work? No. Everything other than that side panel is my own work. That is not complete plagiarism. Get it?
