Further explanation of theme, in the words of ...UH... ME:

It's a Head2Head poll this week, folks! Your car MUST be either red, or blue. One or the other.
At the end of the week, there will be two polls; one for Red, one for Blue. Winner from each
faces off for the overall win! Why these colours? It's GT, of course!

CARS: any (single-car shots only)
LOCATIONS: any
UNIQUE RESTRICTIONS: cars must be red, or blue

20week02rules.png

  • Do not vote for your own entry.
  • Have confidence in your photo; don't try to sway the poll.
  • Don't forget to vote in both side polls during H2H weeks!
  • ...and THEN vote on the final head to head poll (created Thursday)!
  • First-stage polls is up until the week's Thursday.
  • In the event of a tie, a 24 hour poll is created to end Friday.
  • Second-stage poll is up until Saturday.
  • In the event of a second tie, judge's vote is deciding factor.
  • Winners have 48 hours to get their new theme to the host.
  • If the winner can't provide it in time, the runner-up gets to choose.

A quick explanation for those who might not know:

H2H weeks, for PMC and 2.0, will involve two sides. The week of the polls, there will be a poll for each side to determine respective winners by Thursday. After that, a 2-day poll with both sides' winners will be created to determine the overall winner. You are encouraged to vote for both polls in the first stage, and then for one image in the final :).

Oddly enough, both polls have 20 entries this week. Enjoy the space, guys; the next H2H will be limited to a dozen each side!

I'm new here, so please excuse me for my dumb question: why some voters have their names bold and highlight in red? are they any different to other users?

Bold and red names are Premium members.

It appears some members chose to ignore the rules, specifically the very first one: do NOT vote for your own entry. The polls are public for a reason.

I'm sorry, I'll be more than happy if someone remove my vote from my own image.

Really sorry, I guess I've missed that rule entry.

I wish people would click the entry and take a good look before voting. Please... don't vote for someone has a better car but no skills to focus properly.

WOW!

OK, I admit that my pic is slightly out-focused, didn't notice that until I opened it with my computer, and that's y I decided to go with something different..

Thought this is a fair game that everyone gets the chance to share a pic and for others to vote, and everyone is free to pick what they like, turns out a Premium Member tried to say something to alter the result, and it really surprised me, this is just a game, man.

Anyway, thank you all who voted/ considered to vote for me, I'll keep trying to post something fun for u to watch :O

I know franz was not trying to sway any votes but instead wanting people to actually click on the pictures and analyze the photos instead of just looking at these small previews and basing which looks best. 99% of these small previews make the shots look great, but it shows the true skill of the photographer and the image itself when viewed in a larger scale.

No one is pointing fingers or insulting anyone. Its just the competitions deserve more respect in a sense, but like you said, everyone pics what they want. More than anything I just want everyone to have fun and take the time to really look at these entries, people put a lot of time and effort in these shots.

Yeah, I think Franz is just encouraging people to open full-size. A thumbnail can really minimize the flaws that pop up in a full-size; a crisp, clear full-size image is an impressive thing :).

One thing that this reminds me about, that I hope to see more of in the future, is that back in the old days, many people posted their reasoning behind their vote. I'd love to see (constructive) criticisms make a return, as it really gave insight and helped many (myself included) improve their work over time 👍

...20 hours to go, and while Red is all but decided, this is down to the wire!

I voted for 'blue on red' - because, honestly, it had the best composition, and focus was drawn to the car, the colors were perfect for this weeks competition of red v. blue. A lot of the photos drew your eye away from the vehicle. For example, the Ferrari at Kyoto; the background pulls your attention away from the car. A lot of them are also out of focus. For example, the Citroen is awesome in thumbnail, but at full resolution, the lack of focus hurt my eyes. It seemed that the focus was at the background and not the vehicle; where your natural focal point is the Citroen logo at the front. This could've been a result of the editing process though.

I can go through each and every photo; so, if you want, anybody who wants a critique, ask. Don't forget to let me know which image.. it helps. lol

👍

It helped me alot when I used to participate in the GT4 competitions, it got me to a point where I finally won a competition under the alias, RO_JA. Seems that imageshack doesn't have the picture anymore though.

Thanks a bunch for the votes guys! :)

If you would like to critique mine go for it, it's the 599 (like my avatar).

Okay, this was the one I was talking about with the photo drawing the eye away from the car. Your eye is naturally drawn to something bright. In this case, the lights directly behind the car; if that background had been subdued by either darkening it, or making it somewhat monotone. This would've put your eye back, at the very least, on the cars wheels. I would've, at that point used Levels to adjust the lighting so the headlights are white, and maybe even subdue the wheels just a little in another layer, so they're not AS attention grabbing, but they remain relatively dominant; just not the dominating feature of the photo. My results, only editing the thumbnail, are on the right; by dropping the brightness of the background, you bring the focus to the vehicle.

Hmm, I see. I'll take that into account next time, thanks! :)

I think we all know what he meant especially for the "car-skill" line, anyway, that's not my point. RG I totally respect you and your work coz the fact is that your skills are much better than mine, and apparently you're a nice guy too, all I want to just bring out the point of "fair play".

SlipZtrEm, I totally agree with your point, and I'd love to see some comments and advise so everyone can improve, especially for me, as I said I'm new to this forum and GT's photomode, definitely need your opinions to get better.

Last but not least, I didn't mean to start anything but to express my views, so my apology if any of u found it irritating.

I think the editing process did intensify it but it's mainly me, I might have focal point too high at the beginning and didn't recognize it :ouch: So the only thing I could do was to add more "effects" to the pic to make up for the focus thing. I'll save the replay next time if I found a good shot :banghead:

Thanks for the comment and suggestion bro.!

I definitely love the idea of if people would like to give their reasoning behind their vote, it helps everyone out.

Good right up suzq044! My reason for voting for it seemed to be the reason you did not. That is what is great about the critiques, everyone can shed some light on the entries.
My reasoning for voting for this entry is highlighted in the red circles.

I think these areas compliment each other very well. Sometimes the background can make a great difference. In this case I thought the tone along with these areas worked well together and showcased the location as well as the car. Now if this would have been a daytime shot and all in focus like that, it most likely wouldn't have worked cause there would be nothing in the background to compliment the car.

Thanks again to everyone who voted for my shot! Almost pulled it out.

I see what you mean; but my opinion is just that, opinion. Everybody has a different one :D

We should see some great shots on this next one.
