Further explanation of the theme, as described by Miklad:

"To celebrate my first time at hosting a CCCL Comp, I've gone for a totally selfish choice.
My favourite car of all time - the Stratos.

One of the greatest Rally cars ever and still (I think) the best looking car ever designed.

Take it where it belongs - the rally track - and make it look like the legend it is.."

CAR: Lancia Stratos Rally Car '77
LOCATION: Eiger Nordwand K Trail

Full feedback will be supplied in the morning... (12 hours from now) :)

Excellent poll, really liking the range of composition.

Could I please have some feedback on my entry?

Can I just say - ALL the shots were brilliant this week.

It's my first time judging and it has proved to be a nightmare. I wanted to put every single one in, but obviously couldn't.

In the end, my choice came down to personal taste only - the shots that I personally felt were the best in my eye. And yes, I had to be truly ruthless because they were all so good.

I guess if anyone here was to choose the poll, they would easily have come down to different shots.

(So Aragam, don't give up!)

Full feedback for every shot will be given later this morning)

👍

Right - here is the feedback. :scared:

Just so you know - all the shots were brilliant. Not a duff one in there. 👍

It just came down to personal taste, which I hope I've outlined in the feedback below.

Really enjoyed judging this, but in some ways I haven't. I feel so guilty excluding such great shots. :guilty:

FEEDBACK:

Aragam - Great colours and tones, lovely sense of speed. I just felt it needed a tighter crop to show more of the car.

nt1138 - dramatic shot, but the angle is just too extreme for me - perhaps if you rotted 90º is would have had a better effect? Also ever-so-slightly over exposed. Cool shot.

kaede - cool rugged tones overall, and great angle/position of the car and smoke.

GT HP Nut - funky position of the car! I just felt the shot was too 'flat' - more angle from the camera would have helped and perhaps slightly less scenery.

McZachenF138 - Well done on the jaggies! Great composition too - I just felt the shot was a little bit flat colour-wise. It's a shame the shadows were darkening the detail of the rear. Yours was a tricky one to leave out because of the composition alone.

hgrf93 - love it. Two of my favourite things in a shot - top-down view and mono. Your photo really shows the 'Stratos wedge' very well.

przemekszulim - nice, but I feel it could have just done with more rotation on the shot and perhaps zoom out a 'little' to see more of the rear… imho!

bmxmitch - great shot as I expected from you. Lush composition, lush tones - the only thing that spoils it for me is the shadow under the cloud, but that's totally out of anyone's hands to be honest.

honkydonky - to be honest there is nothing wrong with this really, I just thought there were 15 better shots mate.

bazylfox - great shot. Love the blurry plants in the foreground, the stance of the car and the composition. This is one of a number of shots here that really sum up this car's legendary status for me.

jimftr - this was so frustrating! It's *almost* a fantastic shot!!! Really sharp scenery, great tones, dramatic angle - let down by the camera position to be honest. Slightly lower, with all the car in shot (not slightly cropped) and it would have been perfect. Good job.

mazda787 - the classic head-on front ¾ view done very well. Guys - see the angle?

GTCHAMPION1 - again (see jimftr above) this was ever-so-nearly superb! Lovely vibrant colours - just the composition and angle again let it down for me. Good job.

ShadowPeter - normally this style of shot is a favourite of mine and this is very well done. I think a tighter crop would have benefitted the image more. You were close with this, but there were better front/three-quarter views entered imo.

benda18 - right. I know full well there are a lot of things 'wrong' with this shot. The angle is too square, the tyres look like they are falling off etc… but I think this was too brave a shot to leave out. Again, going back to my 'Legendary status' thoughts for this theme, this shot sums it up perfectly.

DarkR - simply wonderful. Composition spot on. Tones spot on. Perfectly summed up the theme as I saw it. Good job.

Fido_le_muet - Bravo! Glad you tried something a little different! I like this because it feels like it was taken by the photographer in the crowd back in the 80s - the blur of the foreground really adds to drama of the shot.

zambuca - nice, but simple not enough car for me, and too much scenery. Like the use of the sepia filter - a tighter zoom and it would have been in.

ZEROX - Another headache for me. Love this shot, I really do, but the jaggy tyre just kept nagging me! Ticks every other box for a perfect shot.

nissanfanatic - very very cool. great use of the mono, and the action in the shot is dramatic. Another one of those 'legendary' entries.

Crooooooow - so brave and a great shot (as were all of them!). Composition is brill, tones ace but… I couldn't get over the fact that it looks like the car is hovering. I know, I know… it's in mid-jump, but if you'd just let it land and then took a similar shot it would have helped me no end. Just my taste really mate. Good job.

Nato_777 - Nice, but I dunno - there were just better pics this time round for me. Love the stance of the Stratos, but it's a little bit 'side-on' for my taste - does that make sense? I think there was a better shot available from this stance. (Ripe for a 'clean-up' job buddy!)

Boabdulrahman - love it. Great use of the filter and love the dark contrast of the woods in the distance. Another 'legendary' entry.

Raphaele - see honkydonky above. Nothing really wrong with it at all, just perhaps a bit more rotational angle to the shot? Like the feel of speed going on.

Ironbash - lovely tones and colours, but the car is dead center and quite small. More car and less scenery would have made this shot stand out for me. Cool though!

fxpro - this is in because it's just so *interesting*. I know there isn't much car on show, but the feel of this shot really appeals because of its originality. Great use of the extreme mono, great over exposure and superb composition (for me anyway!). I'd hang this on my wall. 'nuff said. :)

ThaSyn - love it so much. The attention to composition in this shot is obvious - the framing of the shot is simply spot on. I particularly like the way the rear edge of the car blends into the background - if not done subtly, this can spoil a shot. Another 'legendary' box ticked.

Beeblebrox237 - Like it a lot, but again, I felt there were better shots for the poll. Nothing wrong here except perhaps the car to central in the frame? I dunno…

youtimestwo - again, I know there are things wrong with this shot. A bit too dark. The car shadow looks just a bit - weird. But I like the position of the camera and the sense of drama and speed. Told you it was all about personal taste! :)

SVX - This gave me the most trouble. It's really really nice - I love the road trailing off in the background. Love the stance and angle. The only thing that let it down for me was the 'washed out' feel of the tones - perhaps less smoke would have helped here and slightly more exposure overall. Great shot though - and well done on the lack of jaggies! :)

ljkhk4 - simply fantastic. Drama, speed, detail, tones, composition - it's all here.

mattmflok - nice 'picture-postcard' shot, but could have just done with a tighter crop to be honest. Great shot.

headhorse - whoh! Very very cool. Is that the partial colour filter? If so, great use of it. This shot shows the 'wedge' perfectly and highlights the striking livery while retaining drama and speed. Composition is incredible.

CCShaft7 - very very cool, BUT… I just think there was a better shot available to you in that tunnel mate! Great use of the shadow cutting across the car, but I would have preferred it if you had it the other way round (I mean the front of the car in the light). I know it's a pain to set up or look out for etc… but I just think there was a better shot to be had from the location.

All of the above is my opinion only - I'm surely if someone else picked the poll there would have been an entirely different set of images...

Once again - thanks for such a great result from what could have been a tricky theme.

And thanks for making it so hard for me. Um. I think. :dopey:👍

Awesome feedback post !
I'm glad this is becoming a thing. It is a pain to write but it's very helpful for all entrants. 👍
Thanks for including my pic in the poll Miklad ;)

Yes, the shot is done in partial color and I am happy that you like the shot.

Thanks Miklad for all the feedback I can learn a bit from each photo. 👍

Fantastic feedback Miklad. 👍

Thanks a lot for the feedback and nice comments. I do see what your saying there, and I'll definitely keep it in mind for next time.

Thanks Miklad, the poll looks great 👍

Huge thanks for the feedback mate 👍.......

I do know where you're coming from but ironically I had a few shunts with the boundaries and the front end of the car looked like an old cereal box :yuck: ( mostly due to my amateur-ish driving tbh ) and I tried to cover it up with this shot.
All good comments though and nice shots from the poll setters :)

thanks for taking the time to comment on all the entries. CCCL competitions are tough - being the most restricted competition a lot of the entries start looking the same. your critique of my shot does not come as a surprise at all, but i'm glad i took the risk of submitting something technically inferior but bold and unique. here are some of the shots i passed on submitting:

Hey all - no problem, was a pleasure. I hope my critique has shed some light as to the way I view photos, at least! :)

CCShaft - yeah I know what you mean - I'm not the best driver in the world. :dopey:

Benda - some great shots there, K Trail 12 especially - just shows how brave you were submitting the one you did. 👍

mattmflok - nice 'picture-postcard' shot, but could have just done with a tighter crop to be honest. Great shot.
Thanks for the feedback Miklad, but one thing i don't really get:

a tighter crop...can you please elaborate a bit more? thanks

All I meant by tighter crop was perhaps crop the image so the car fills the shot more. Do it either by zooming in when you take the shot, or crop the image in photoshop or something similar. 👍

Hey Miklad, thanks so much for the feedback. I always appreciate the effort when a judge give feedback on all the entries. I'm glad to have gotten feedback on mine, because, once again, I have either nice lighting and colours, or nice composition, but not both (seems to be a recurring issue for me). Back to the drawing board...

Kudos Miklad  feedback delivey excellence! (continues)
Agree with all those posting a positive experience. 👍

and...
It just came down to personal taste, which I hope I've outlined in the feedback below.

Thanks for poll inclusion. :D Must admit the camera angle is learned from viewing past comps using mentors like you. Took my shot at GT HP Nut's same location. (might explain the shadow) However; heading toward a voting shutout :( unsure of my selection?
My entry came down to a choice of two, might you kindly comment on "this" (my other) to help me in future decisions. :boggled:
W.

In my opinion, if you'd entered the other shot, you probably wouldn't have made the poll. It's just not as good as the shot you entered.

Don't worry about 'no votes' - you're already a winner by having your image in the poll.

:dopey:👍

completely agree. making poll is victory.

(i only have 1 vote so far, so don't worry about the shut-out)

Thanks for the additional feedback, useful knowledge. :)

True enough. Being selected by a mentor, over some other mentors, is in fact a "vote" of confidence! ;)

Er... yeah... not sure about this 'mentor' stuff, to be honest... but thanks anyway. :)

This weeks winner is...

...ijkhk4

Congratulations! :)

Having win for a long time :)

Thanks you for voting my photo.

Hope people will like my theme this week. Really exciting to see photos from all of you.
