Okay, okay, shame on me for doing this. But could I get some feedback on my entry? I know it wasn't nearly as good as many of the photos in the poll, but I think it's at least decent. Of course, it's not everyone's cup of tea. Without further ado:

well.. no poll this time but I kinda figured as much with all the other entries I saw
@ Beeble..nice shot but perhaps if the car was more centered and zoomed in more
@GranTurismo.. probably due to the fact that not much of the car being visible(and I have discovered the hard way that warm filter gets no love)

anyone care to have at mine? my guess is that the other drift shots were presented better and too much city not enough car

If you bring the car to the right some more you'll have a better shot. The way that is is cut off at the rear is distracting as is the huge empty chunk of asphalt. You see the road more than the car.

Just keep at it, some if these guys have been doing this a very long time. Practice makes perfect!

^ That. I've been doing this since PMC week 18. Made the polls a handful of times, still haven't come close to winning but I keep coming back because it is fun and you learn something new every time. Don't get discouraged, get better! :tup: Just about everyone is willing to offer tips and suggestions to improve your pictures.

I didn't enter, so what do I know....

But.... You need to use a more interesting composition, I think you have a tendency to overrate a low DoF, and this is centered, and doesn't really grab your attention. Feels a bit rushed, as NF says.

If I'd give a few tips on improving the existing entry, get closer to the car, use a higher f/stop, a focal length of ~18-28 and angle the camera so you get some more motion blur.

Thanks both, I have to admit it was rushed, very rushed in fact, I only took 3 shots and this was the only vaguely good one, so I completely agree with all your criticism.. And Fishy, yeah, I do like a low f/stop, I'll try and change that

I don't think you should change the low f/stop values you use. I have been using them for a long time, and find that it is usually very effective in focusing attention on the car while allowing for a good sensation of speed and interesting composition. I also think that the low f/stop is one of your signature styles, so if you eliminated it you would lose some identity as a photographer. Most of your photos are fantastic, it's just that the angle and composition on that one are unusually dull, and this is exacerbated by the low f/stop. basically, what I'm trying to say is: don't change, your style is good. This photo is not indicative of your true talent, just that your style doesn't always lend itself to a great shot.

My only stipulation with it is the fact it looks like its pushing, not over-steering. And in my opinion, purple on gold looks terrible... Yeah.
