Didn't make the cut this week.

I went with a heavier edit feel than I usually do on this one - guess it didn't work.

Hard to tell on this background but it does have a square-edged white border.

Any feedback, hgrf93?

Figured out a lot of the shots are taken in Phototravel, and very few contain motion in it :odd:

The editing was indeed a bit over the top but it is good to experiment. I found the noise to be too high for my liking and the sky a bit too blown out as well. It still looked good but not as others.:)

The motion wasn't really important I just didn't want to see action shots:). I liked the composition of your shot but it was too over saturated for me so it didn't make the cut.

Yeah that's cool, I know the noise was a bit OTT. It looks fine on my home computer but when I viewed it on the work computer today it looked hideous.

Excessively over edited, I assume?

Only a bit over exposed because of the blown out sky, but I really liked the tones of the image. The car looked blurry especially on the back and it didn't fit the theme as well as others. That's why I left it out. Still quite a good shot and one of the last ones to get eliminated from the poll :). If that makes any sense :dopey:.

Here was my entry, I somehow spawned behind the barrier in london, so I tried to put my car in a cage... I realize that the car isn't necesarily the main focus of the picture, but it was worth a shot.

I really liked the concept and the creativity behind your entry but it lacked editing which other pics had.

I thought I had a good chance, any criticism on mine?

Oh and first shot is against 2.0 rules
Your shot was also one of the last ones to be left out. I left it out because the background kind of blended with the car. It would have been better if the tones of the picture weren't the same as the car's colour which would have created more contrast. But that's just my opinion and nevertheless it was a very good pic :). And about the first shot, why is it against 2.0 rules :odd:? I honestly didn't notice anything :dopey:.

Can't put an image on an image though, *no more than one layer* so if you are to alter the number plate it would just have to be with a paint brush etc

I honestly didn't know that :dopey:. We'll have to let Nato decide.

They may well have just done it with a paint brush, however it would have taken some time I'm sure!

Well, that's a tricky one. You are allowed multiple layers and you are allowed to modify/remove number plates. What you can't do is add in an object from outside of GT5 or use multiple images/photo-stitching. The number plate in question to me does look as though it was cut and pasted from another image which technically is against the rules.
I will need to consult with SlipZ first before making any decision on it.

Any feedback on mine? I didn't think it was too bad. Of course, looking at the poll, it's no wonder I didn't make it. Amazing entries, guys.

Thanks and having a closer look I have to agree. ;) 👍

Yep, that's it. You can alter the license plate, that's true as long as you use tools allowed by 2.0 (like brush tool and/or type tool). You can't just paste an external image/license plate on it, leave that to the Photoshop Competitions. If you can use external images to license plates, you can use external images for everything.

:boggled: I'm confused now??

The license plate rule always appeared to me to be an area where adding an outside element was allowed but only due to the numerous times I've seen it done. There can't be anyway that all the examples I've seen here in the comps of could be done with 'brush' alone?? can they?..............

I'll hold my hands up and say I've mis-interpreted the rule if I'm wrong :guilty: and at least to my knowledge I haven't won a comp that breaks this rule.....apart from the one-off 3.0 which would allow it ....phew,

hmmmmmm...clarification would put this to rest I suppose.

edit: All the times I've used a plate no-one has raised an eyebrow? :odd:

This confuses me too. And I have to admit, whenever I did that, I used a pic for the license plate.
I also won one 2.0 comp with this. :boggled:

Am I disqualified now? :scared:

Thing is, the first time I saw someone doing it was when I was doing the HOF a while ago and saw this image by Zambuca, which in this case could very well be a product of brush/type tool.

After this image, I start to see a number of altered license plates on competitions, some of them a little dubious on how they get to be like this. I contacted SilpZ regarding it, and how it was against the rules, but never got any response. I also got my share time of inactivity, so it was impossible to warn a little more about it.

After seeing some of them winning competitions using dubious license plates (this while doing some of the HOF), I knew I had to act and clarify once and for all that external images are in no way welcome to 2.0 competitions, never were and never should be.

If an exception is made about it, then HDR, panoramas, body modifications and so on and so forth should also be allowed.

The rule is simple:
What you may not do to a photo:
Alter the geometry of the car. No stickers, or body modifications not available in game.
Add shapes or objects from outside of GT5, signatures excepted.

Edit: I don't think the past should be deleted now. Whats in the HOF should stay as it is. It's more of a regard to future competition weeks.

Edit 2: And I am really sorry to all affected.

I agree with Nicknamealguem that the past should be ignored. Despite the fact that a rule was broken, I doubt the fact that somebody had a more realistic number plate greatly affected the number of votes they received. I personally think that the DB9 shot should be left in the poll, but in future using other photos should be more strictly enforced.

Poll is closed and the winner is...
