Noted - I guess the interesting images these filters produce for newcomers are somewhat gauche for the old guard here.

In my opinion, the warm and cool filters seem overused and partial colour can produce some far more interesting results. But I'm not the judge (and nor am I likely to be any time soon!) so my opinion matters not.

I think when you take a photo and it comes to the filter choice, you shouldn´t be worried about taking the "right" or "wrong" filter. Sure, "Newbies" as I call them (sorry for that), might be fascinated by miniature or partial-colour filters, but I always had the same approach to a comp since I started here. I was looking at all the pics that have been posted before and tried to see what looks good or not, what works and what not, to get some kind of direction for the future, to get experience. And it´s starting to work right from the beginning, everything you learn from these comps within only 5 minutes helps you being a better photographer.

If you really feel that the miniature filter works, why not use it? If it looks great, there´s no reason not to use just because people feel it is overused or stuff like that. Every filter has a reason for being and as I am now participating in these comps for one year and one week, I can tell you that everyone of them can make a good photography, if you just do it right and feel free to use anything the game has to offer. I think it´s called "being open-minded" :p

Oh, and by the way: Rapha is kicking some ass here :dopey:

Oh i get you now thanks, i should have mentioned earlier to those viewing my picture, if theres A LOT of distortion thats the dust cloud behind the car as i didnt have the common sense to stop the car then take the picture:ouch: (although the distortion is only noticeable when viewing in certain ways) eg it doesnt show up when i view the picture on my 32" tv but it does heavily on my iphone:indiff:.
Also could someone direct me to somewhere that explains the 3 panning settings or could someone explain it as i have never noticed a difference when using them so always just use setting 1.

The 3 panning settings are fairly different. The first panning speed makes the picture look like it was taken by a person on the side and the car just blew by. The 2nd panning setting is like panning setting 3, yet doesn't make the car look as fast. Panning setting 3 makes it look like you are running with the car.

Hope this helps.

Could I have some feedback on mine?

I'm pulling this up. Please, could I have some feedback? Sorry if I'm being a nag.

Oops, sorry there beeblebrox. No problem with you reminding me. The issue with yours lies in the slightly odd angle choice and the fact that the shadow is facing towards me. Take the picture from the other side, have higher car speed/lower shutter speed and perhaps use a cold/warm filter and you might be in the poll. But you fall into the same fate as Evolvedsoul. Good entry with no major faults, there were just others which were better. Sorry! :guilty:

@Wallbreaker:
I really don't get you.

"Oh, and by the way: Rapha is kicking some ass here…

Edit: Did you already read my PM?

I think he meant that you are currently leading, by a relatively large margin. :p

Thanks Fishy, I appreciate that well.
Last time kind of thing happened, it was Becco who robbed my victory.

I declare to everybody:
I am a single-account member.
And this is okay for me!

But what you simply cannot know is what I wrote to Wallbreaker via PM.

By the way:
I really love your "Surrealistic" theme !

Don't be sorry! There were many entries that were better than mine and deserve to be in the poll. Thanks for the feedback :)

It is a bit like Boabdulrahman's entry. But without the yellow colour to contrast and darker. Lower the shutter speed and use a brighter body colour.
The car was actually a chrome colour it was just dark because of the filter I had on.

Swordfish1978ca.. Read the title of this thread, then read the OP (hint.. this is a poll)

Congrats Raphaele! 👍 It's now your 2nd PMC win I believe but this time you get to judge. :)

Thank you all for compliments and voting – though the poll isn't closed yet.
This is a really great competition with awesome entries galore.
I'm happy to be part of it and hopefully I will gain my first PMC win (beyond PM/Photoshop) in real time – and non-retroactively.
And there will be a thrilling theme...
👍

Congrats, sir Raph, for beating back a pack of rabid 458's with their grandfather. Wait a tick, that doesn't sound quite right... ;)

👍

Congratulations Raphaele!

Toscana so suits the Italian buggies, well done. 👍

Anticipating your theme. :p

Now my thriumph is official – tastes nice indeed.
In a day or two it will be my "One Year Anniversary" of GT5 Photomode Competitions.
I entered in round about 146 comps improving my photographic skills steadily.
Interesting: my real life photography profits by this GT5 expert knowledge as well.
Again I want to thank everybody who supported me while I was singing "the PMC Blues".

To be honest, I had another theme well-prepared, but then I was told this has to be a H2H week.
Nevertheless I am confident that you'll enjoy "Sip & Trumpeting"…
