"Season 01, 02 and 03 qualifying themes were all Tournament related, and as you can guess, this one will be no different. For this Season 04 and as for all the tournament, you have to fight and win to the top, always submitting your best image. This is what this Season qualifying is all about, show you best single car image.".

i hear you... maybe it's just me, but i dont feel some of these pictures should have the votes that they have... but my taste often goes against the grain alot with everyones taste in pictures

I'm in this club as well.

It bothers me more that theres only about 6 that deserve the votes they have and that theres so many with loads of votes that probably shouldn't have them, it really irritates me that theres pictures with so many theyre on par with pictures that are in a completely different league.

Im not going to point out specifics but this poll mainly consists of 'oh look theres a car in the center at a slight angle' pictures, i tried copying something i saw in a magazine and yes obviously editing would help but its not a bad picture, it looks pretty close to the shot i was mimicking. It doesn't feel like anyone else experimented or even tried to push themselves despite this being a tournament.

Sorry if ive offended anyone but im just saying things how i see them and trying to explain why im so hacked off.

I agree, most of these pictures shouldn't have the votes they do. I'm not sure if my photo is on par with the others since this is my first PMC, but I thought it was a pretty good picture, and I really didn't expect to be practically last. I thought people may vote for different, not the same.

Agree. I've removed the whining bit of the rules because I though it had disappeared.

People will vote as they please and within they're preferences/opinion. I have nothing against people stating their opinion (reviews/good criticism) about each entry or each voted/not voted entry.
Whining about why X or Y or a group of XY pictures as more or less votes than the others and why people are voting this way and not the other is frowned upon.

Well said. People are voting for what appeals to them. and if that happens to not be your entry then all you can do is learn from it. Practice lots, try new things, practice, learn from others, and then practice. Having a cry because you entry isn't doing well isn't going to make you better at taking photos. Ask fir a critic, and practise. Then practise some more.

Well said and well said too. I'm also on the bubble but so what, consensus is very rarely unanimous, your own pride in your work ultimately is all that really matters. I'm just going to pick my 16 favourites as everyone should and let the comp proceed to the next round.

It seems i haven't put my point across as best i could have, apologies for that, i do agree with part of what your saying. I think what frustrates me most is the fact that i stretched myself to try something beyond the usual and give an extra effort seeing as its the tournament yet most people don't seem to have bothered.

i guess i cant complian to much because i didnt dedicate any time to this (not that really had the choice ) and i know mine is not the best but i feel like that IMO that mine is par or if not better than some of the stuff here, i know it's not up to me and it's up to the voters, but it's just my taste and i'm surprised that i have as little votes as i do

The tournaments, more so than the weekly comps, aren't about "trying something new", per se, at least in the qualifier. Remember that it's a public, multi-choice poll: people don't only have a single vote to deliberate on, they can voice their opinion about each and every entry. We all have our own lines drawn in the sand about what it takes to actually earn our votes, and like the rest of this section, everyone's standards are different. I can say, honestly, that I've dropped more experimental shots in favour of a more "safe" entry for all the qualifiers I've actually entered, with exception to the first GT5 Tournament, and that was only because I was confident it hit that theme the best.

Since the goal of the qualifier is different from the rounds themselves, I always err on the safe side if it's more likely to pick up votes, even if that means its a poorer shot, artistically, than my alternates. You have to find the balance between wide-ranging appeal and artistic value, IMHO.

I'd personally prefer if there was absolutely no discussion about people's own entries ("I'm doing so much better than expected" or "thought I'd get more votes") until the poll closed, but that's just my preference. As for a front page article: it's unlikely, since I'm still not working from my own computer (only an "emergency pack" USB), and clocking over 50 hours a week at work. Sorry folks.
