This weeks theme as brought to you by smskeeter23;

"The racing season is in full swing and it’s time to get your tickets! Head out to a race in GT6 and take along your consumer grade camera or cellphone for some snapshots. Make me believe your picture was taken by a spectator.

Look for areas and positions that could theoretically be accessed by people during a race. Obviously you’re going to be well off track I hope! (I am not responsible for you being hit by a car if you do wander onto the track)"

CARS: Race cars only.
LOCATIONS: Any real world track.
PHOTOTRAVEL: No.
UNIQUE RESTRICTIONS: Zoom under 301mm, No Panning mode 3, Camera off of the track!

Glad someone does I was a little worried this one might not go so well... :nervous:
Love this theme!!! If you get the balance of restrictions just right, it sends us out of our comfort zones - and usually ends in some mighty fine photographs!! I think this one will do just that:tup:

(Must remember not to put my sig on it this thime!!;))

Just gotta ask!
Does motorsport photographer go? (yellow zone, inner track etc.)
Or does it HAVE to be on the "public" aeria?

And one more question, consumer grade camera? What does that mean? A camera that you could find in any home without causing attention? (as a photographer irl, i know for sure that the camera doesen't make the photo, aslong as you have a DSLR camera (or any camera that you can alter the shutterspeed and aperture), you're ready to go on track and grab some photos.)

For intance, take this shot, that i think is my best shot of all time.

It was taken with a Nikon D5000 (your average "household" camera), but it would have made no difference if i where to use a Nikon D4, Canon 5D MKIII or whatever.

Hope i made my point clear :) (i know my english is bad, and with a propper hangover, its even worse than usuall)

Firstly, nice shot. I always loved doing 1/40 pans at motocross races with my 12-24/f2.8 up at the fence.

I too was a freelance photographer for a stint of time so I fully understand the ability to take great photos with limited equipment. And really that is partially what this is about. The camera and lenses are only a tool... but often they are tools the widespread public doesn't have. I don't know anybody other than my wife's uncle who shoots for Sport Illustrated that has a 500mm f1.0 lens (thinking about it now I should have set a low limit f5.6 and 1/250 requirement too lol)

I guess my thought was that the pics would be something regarding the "typical run of the mill picture taken by average Joe spectator". Some can be very good but we all here focus on taking the best possible, most professional looking, epic picture of all time that too often the actual "feel" of being at an event is lost. It's not that I am saying everyone should be trying to take "bad" pictures like your mother inlaws does... just something that makes you feel like it was taken by an "average" spectator that is at least better than aunt Betty.

I'll just end with this... like I said, I want to feel like I am one of the general public spectators. I'm going ti leave it at that because I don't want to be too overbearing on rules and allow for creativity.

I can post a few examples of "snapshots" I've taken though if requested.

I think that solved all i was woundering about :)

Hopefully I'll be able to get an entry in, love the theme! But my stupid game has been glitching the past couple days and is crashing and crap and I can't get a replay out of most of the tracks, and seemingly anyone with time change, to take a picture with. I know exactly the car and track I want to use and know exactly where I want to take my shot and I can't do it, how frustrating is that!

Leaving this open for a bit yet...

@Amac500 did you get your issues sorted or are you not going to make it for this one?

I think I can make it but it might be closer to mid night New York time. After my PlayStation is off for a while there seems to be a short period of time where I don't have a glitch so I think I can get a replay out of it once I get home from a family thing.

I suppose "technically" it is the 20th until around then isn't it? Lol

Ok I'll leave this open and close it in the morning.
