Heh, my temper got the best of me, so i slugged the tray of my CD-RW to shut it. It went in and immediatly bounced right back out. That was followed by a very very loud string of bad words from me.

I took it apart and luckily the only thing that happened was a gear popped of and the part that old the cd in place came apart. Fixed it and its good as new:)

Anyways, let this be a lessen to you, never take up a fist fight with a CD-ROM, cause you will win and thats a bad thing:)

I'm a button pusher myself, always have been. It's just one of my pet peaves. And it drives me NUTS when I see people push the tray in, especially when they push it all the way in without letting the motor take over.

I've always pushed the button, myself, too. It makes me angry when I see bored people play with the tray, by pushing it, and then grabbing it and pulling it back out before it goes in (and pushing the button and then hold the tray before it opens). There are a lot of idiots in this world...

Countless idiots ...

I hate to do this to my dad, but he deserves it. When he was little he stuck his finger in a stapler and hit it with his other hand ... just because he wanted to know what it felt like!

* hangs his head in shame *

Heheh, I've always been a button pusher, but this time it just pissed me off and i hit it, just so happens that i hit it so it went in instead of breaking the tray off.

The root of all this anger is no other than buffer underrun

Loudmusic, i think i have to join that staple group too:) We were having stapler fights in class (shooting the staples at each other, not actually stapling each other.) My finger slipped into the path of the staples, and before i knew it i have 3 staples in my finger:)

I've stapled myself, too, but it was completely by accident. I was refilling a stapler, but I couldn't get the top to close. Finally, I pushed very hard, and it snapped down in place...along with a staple in my finger which was holding the stapler... :dunce:

... I'm guessing you were having so much fun that your reflex actions were pretty much out to lunch? THREE TIMES!?!

The father of a friend of mine is a carpenter. One day he was using his air gun to put up a fence and put a nail through his hand. That's pain my friends. I don't think he was attached to the fence, but that would be pretty histaricle (:

I am a button pusher also, but once i got really mad and hit the little door in front of the cdplayer very hard. It immediately broke off. But that thing had no important function anyway, so it didn't matter very much.

Never stapled any body parts of mine though :D

The worst thing I did to a CD tray was kick it when I forgot it was open (this is on my desktop PC, which is on the carpet). The kick was kind of across the direction of motion of the tray, and the drive was AF'd. Still, loads of new 32x ones sitting in the store room...

Yeah, I picked up on that one too!

How about forgetting to screw your CD-Rw drive into your PC. Then when you take it down the stairs. You slightly tlit your Pc downwards and your CD-RW falls all the way down the stairs.
Still works though :D

Ditto! Tray-pushers make me insane...people bring CD players back to my store, and want to know why their CD player won't open anymore. :dunce: me -> :irked:
