Welcome to Club 500

Club 500 is the place to discuss racing, tunes, events, post images and talk about enjoy the classic 500 to the fullest.

If you've ever been into the Arcade Mode thread you'll know that these cars bring up a full grid of identical cars. Turn off all aids and the HUD, stick on you're favourite album and admire the view!

These little cars offer amazing, fun challenges ranging from sprint races to full-on multi hour endurance races with neck-a-neck racing the whole way.

Want to drink a beer or have a smoke? Map the steering and accelerator/ brake to a single analogue stick on a control (if you use one) and go one handed!

You may think you can win ever race very easily in these cars, well, you're wrong. A starting ballast of 60kg (driver weight) will put you on par with the AI. Comfort tyres, damage on and lack of aids add to the fun. Crank up the ballast if you think you can take the challenge.

Try these, fellow 500 fans:
(Note: I run all of my races using Arcade Mode in a stock car, though tuning also yields fun results.)

Sprint Races:

4 laps of Trial Mountain (70kg)
1 lap of The 'Ring (75kg)
6 laps of Autumn Ring Mini

Middle Distance Races (20 minutes or more):

8 laps of Monaco (70kg)
11 laps of Monza (65kg)
20 laps of Cape Ring Inside (65kg)

Endurance Races (1 hour or more):
5 laps of The 'Ring (70kg)
8 laps of Le Mans (65kg)
21 laps of Laguna Seca (65kg)

These are just examples, the weight represents the ballast I used for a challenge, adjust accordingly.

Try your own combinations and share them here. Drag racing is something I haven't tried yet and I'm sure an online race series is going already or can be started by fans.

I'll post a picture of my 500 later when I get a chance.

Looks awesome! I'll try to keep an eye on this thread.

I enjoy driving these cars around the rally circuits. Especially Eiger Nordwand K Trail. Lots of fun to slide around a little bit in such a tiny car 👍

You've peaked my interest.

Being able to slipstream to the front of the a pack is rather fun, though, it also works in their favour to get back past you!

I'm amazed at how many people say they want this car gone in the "5 cars you don't want to see return" thread.

Personally I love this car, it's just so different from the norm while still packing tons of passion.

I scrolled past that thread earlier, didn't go it, but that was what I was kind of expecting. So many people criticize it for it's lack of speed and complexity but that is what makes it such a wonderful little machine.

The first thing I do in any racing game is turn down the BGM and crank the engine sounds but it's really not necessary with the 500. I plug in my MP3s and chug away around Deep Forest or somewhere and admire all the little details of the tracks which I miss in faster cars because of the higher speeds.

I tried tuning a Full tuned 500F and was surprised how difficult they are to tune.

Would I need to put off an entire afternoon, for the Nürburgring-race ? - Just kidding .

I actually quite like slower cars, so I'll probably give this a go, once I fire up the PS3 :D.
