Clubsport Shifter on Wheelstand Pro

Hi all,

Has anyone actually done this? WS don't have a bracket for it and don't know. Fanatec say it can be fitted to their very similar Rennsport stand using the table clamp, but I'm not convinced it would fit a WS Pro (V2 Deluxe) in the same way as I think the metal wheel 'table' is a lot smaller.

Plus is it just too heavy (for any wheel stand)?

I really want to upgrade my Porsche shifters. I know I can go TH8A with a Basherboards thingy (can I on PS4?), but I'd love to find a way to use a CSS SQ... I've wanted one of those things ever since they came out.

Table mounting is not an option for me.

Having used a wheelstand before I'd say there is no way you can use CSS on it. Even many cheaper rigs could have problems especially if you are using H pattern. It is heavy. I guess wheelstand would just fall over once you shift (if you manage to mount it).
 
Correct me if I'm wrong, but weight is the same as the TH8A and WS make a bracket for that. Cost including adaptor would be about the same for me so CSS seems otherwise a no-brainer...

Plus Fanatec sell it as mountable to their pretty similar CSL stand. Somebody must have done it or tried?

Also, sourcing a Basher adaptor at the moment seems like a long wait, if at all. :-(

TH8A dimensions -25.5 x 32.5 x 16 cm; 2.2 Kg

CSS dimensions - 18.00cm x 18.00cm x 35cm, 2.4kg

So very, very little in it. I can't quite understand, as the CSS looks a lot more substantial with no plastic. I've seen a lot of videos, including WS's own setup guide, that show the TH3A really quite stable attached to the stand, albeit a bit high & on a bespoke bracket.

I reckon it could work using either the same TH3A bracket or the Fanatec clamp, maybe with some extra reinforcement. I'm not overly heavy-handed or a serious, dedicated racer.

Has really nobody done it?

The WSP adapter for the TH8A is reasonably sturdy. You can certainly shift with it fine, although it's obviously higher than optimal.

The TH8A mount is aligned with the top plate of the shifter, and at that height is useable. So a Fanatec shifter mount would need to be similarly made so that it mounts on the WSP plate as low as possible.


In terms of weight: The TH8A is fully metal except for the sequential plate, so no reason why it wouldn't be as heavy as the Fanatec.
 
I can see, having watched some comparison videos, that the CSS is bigger & bulkier. The dimensions are the widest points of the TH8A where the CSS body is basically a cube. The Thrustmaster would be more compact. There's about half a kilo in weight difference, but not too bad. I reckon with some modification, the G27 adaptor should be capable of holding it fairly steadily in conjunction with the Fanstec clamp. I'm going to take the plunge, I think, and try it.

There is no way that the CSS is the same weight as a TH8. The CSS is a TANK, the TH8 is more of a sports car.
 
Dunno, according to the specs there's not much in it! .4 of a kilo but it's a less forgiving shape.

Would be interested if anyone has both available to actually put on the scales! :-)

The other thing is that including the necessary adaptor I'd need for my wheel, they're almost the same price. CSS looks by far the superiorest wheel to me.

Hi Rob, did you try the Fanatec Shifter 1.5 SQ with the Wheelstandpro RGS module ?

The fanatec shifter looks like quite a square base with the holes 93.2mm x 93.2mm apart, so without an sandwich plate for the RGS, one would be limited to 2 hole fixation

No, I never got round to it. It seemed too much of a gamble so I've stuck with paddles for now. If the price of the shifters drops or I found a good used one I'd give it a go. But sorry, what do you mean by RGS?

I've now heard back from support, they have an RGS version for the fanatec clubsport shifter which you need to contact their support to order (as it is not on their shopping cart)
 
Oh wow, I had no idea about that. Last time I enquired it was basically 'try using the Fanatec table clamp to mount it to this clamp to then mount it to the stand'... All a bit of a bodge and I lost interest. This looks interesting, thank you. I may give it some thought again. Do you know if the one for the CSS is also £45?
