A bunch of lunacy or the actual thing?
IGN
July 25, 2006 - A mysterious press release from Nintendo today teases that a message detailing the Wii launch date may be hidden within its text. Now, as the release says, it may all be a rouse to get us to read about Nintendo's other games, but we just can't help ourselves.

The release reads: "Perhaps the secret to the launch information for Wii is somehow encoded in the text of this news item. You might want to pore over it for a few hours before staying up all night to debate phraseology and comma placement with your friends online."

Take a look for yourself and see if you can decode anything from it. What we can tell after a good thirty seconds or so of scrutiny is that a game is releasing every Monday except October 2, November 20, and November 27. Nintendo has hinted that the Wii would launch sooner than later, so that points to... October 2nd?

Separate rumors have suggested that Nintendo could be planning to launch Wii directly after the Tokyo Game Show, which takes place in late September.

Of course, none of this is confirmed, but that shouldn't stop you from speculating.

Just a scam, I bet. Sounds like something I would write. Have they got crazy emo sarcastic high schoolers working for them?

I read the Nintendo press release, and I couldn't find anything that stuck out as a hint. However, October seems like a reasonable guestimate for the Wii's release, which I think is a good idea to get a one-up on Sony before "PS3-agedon" happens.

I feel stupid for not being able to figure it out. Then again, if I spent more time on this "decoding", I might feel stupider.

I'm still not 100% if I'm going to get Wii first, but I'd say very likely. Probably not at the release though.

With Mario being a later release, and the new Zelda being available on both Wii and Cube, I may just wait until there’s some must have software. Hmm, as the Wii has GC-like controller ports, it will be interesting to see if the Classic Controller works with Cube. Doubtful, but a nice thought.

^ It will. I plan on picking up the Wii before the PS3 or anything for sure, but at this point I'm stuck between a iPod Nano, or a DS Lite, or a PSP, should I buy one of those or just continue saving. :irked:

I have an older iPod (not the color ones), and they're awesome. The Nanos should pwn. I'd get a DS Lite any day over a PSP, because it's cheaper, and it has a lot better games. The PSPs features like playing music or watching videos or that stuff is highly overrated. Otherwise, it's up to you. I'd get a Wii anyday over anything else that you mentioned though.
