What's the likely hood condition of the clutch after the driven miles of the car

I'm asking this cause I'm thinking of buying a car and I want it to be manual but I don't want to be at risk of having to replace it. My dad showed me how to drive clutch responsibly in his porshe so I know what I need to do.
 
Depending on how it is driven, most will probably need replacing between 50 and 100K. I did the one on my truck at around 80.
 
Cautious people tend to replace them around the 70,000 mile mark.

Clutches can go up to 100,000 miles with the odd slip here and there, provided of course the clutch had a smooth and easy life.

Anything over 100,000 I'd ask if the clutch had any problems or was replaced.
 
My Celica has just over 120K, and as far as I know, it still has the original clutch. I bought it used at 66K, and have had zero problems since new. It being a hydraulic unit, it is more difficult to tell when significant wear has occurred, but everything seems to be working just fine currently.

So basicly if it has 170,000 miles the clutch has probably been changed at least once right? Also if its like a mazda or nissan or something like that. Chances are it can last longer than usual ?
 
^Normally, but doesn't have to.

A good driver can manage a lot of miles on one clutch.

I use this to check the clutch state of things on used cars:
clutch down, 3rd gear in and then let the clutch come, if the engine stalls the clutch is fine. If the engine still runs, the clutch will need replacement sooner than later (you really can feel it).

This applies to standard clutch discs, upgraded clutches are slightly different again.
 
My Mazda 323 has 180,000 miles, and as far as I know, still on the original clutch, although it does slip some, but that's because of the power I'm making, not the clutch being worn.
