Heh, I just read the article Doug. I think Jack Ass is only out to make some quick money. Also, what is all this "defamation of character" he keeps talking about. He changed his name to Jack Ass. He defamed himself by changing his name. Roll and eyes.

That's kind of what I'm thinking. Also what has the man done to stop drunk driving? And how will his new name help him out?

Maybe he changed his name to Jack Ass because the only vehicle involved in the deadly car accident was his own. Ha.

Doesn't leave much question as to who was drunk at the time of the accident, does it?

I really would like to post something worth reading Doug but how am I supposed to respond to that? The anser is obvious. All I have to say is  !

I would also like to alert you to the fact with Mr. Jack Ass there is SPACE between his name.

Therefore, it is impossible to sue. I think.

Anyhow, quick buck alert methinks.

Nah, he can still sue. He may even win, he has a half-decent case.

Even so, it's fairly easy to poke fun at the loser.

I would put it to you that if a man changes his name to Jack Ass, then describing him as a 'jackass' would not constitute defamation.

I mean, how could it? How could you damage that character?

My point exactly vat_man.

Like the lady suing Mcdonalds over a cup of hot coffee spilled on her lap while driving? She claimed she didn't know it was hot... People will sue over anything to get rich quick.

It must be genetic or something. If I burned myself on coffee while driving I'd call myself clumsy and tell my friends for a laugh. Maybe I have the wrong attitude. Maybe I should start looking for dollar signs in every little thing.

That's why you now get a warning on the side of the cup that says "Caution: Contents Hot". Any sane, sensible person laughs at McDonalds, saying "No sh**, Sherlock", but this is the result of an overly litigious society.

The best case of name changing was by a man who was raked over the coals by his bank. After a long and heated discussion, be cleared his overdraft, and had £1.67 in his account. The bank had told him that as soon as the debt was cleared, they were closing his account, and they would forward any outstanding credit balance to him in a cheque.

He demanded that they write the cheque in his full name, which he promptly changed to "The-Yokshire-Bank-Are-Fascist Bast***s".
