I want a cockpit for racing but I don't know if I should buy or build.
KB18FANMine is sort of a mix. I'm using the seat and some of the hardware from the Kyle Bush Playseat which I then mounted on a piece of plywood with reverse mounted pedals. G27 wheel and pedals. The whole thing sits on a set of 6 castors so I roll it out of the way. Everything is carpeted just like the floorboard of a real car and I wrapped the metal parts in carbon fiber. Pretty awesome looking if I do say so, lol.

McClarenDesignThis is how I'm making mine.
porthillkingI read something about that on yahoo a while ago, pretty awesome really![]()
I'm building one myself, for 3 reasons.
1) I can do it for less money than what most companies are asking for.
2) I can make it exactly how I want it to be, with no compromises.
3) It will have absolutely no flex in it. Some of the commercially available ones are shocking, when you see how much they flex.
If you have the time, inclination, and a degree of skills (ie- you can use a saw), then give it a go yourself.
I am all for building your own cockpit. If you have the tools and a little know how, I say built it!
