COD4 online meeting? (for GTP members)

Hey, I was just wondering about it (as I have posted on the official COD4 thread), but I'd like to take a survey to see the feedback on this.

The only reason I've created a new thread for this was because I thought it would be easier to track down the posts on this specific game subject, instead of clogging the game's thread with random posts about this or any other subject all mixed together.

I see increasing numbers of GTP members having this game (and so far loving it, and I've already had a few experiences with some of our members online. All of them good.


Basically, what's your take on having GTP-members private matches?
I was thinking people could throw in their available days and time of day (posting time-zone) along with it, and the first post could be updated with a sort of table, which would be cool to everyone, seeing when other members are planning to be online.
This would make it easier to arrange a private match with as many members we can get.

Or I could just throw in a couple of dates, and everyone would just say yay or nay, I'll leave it up to you.

Anyway, if you're interested and don't have the PSN-ID on your profile showing on the threads, post it here so other members can add you up.

Well, my internet isnt working at the moment, but I live on the east coast of the US, so eastern time I guess. But Im willing to stay up late or get up early, depending on when I work and what not.
 
You already know that I am definately down with a GTP CoD4 clan/meetings, I can pretty much play whenever save some exceptions. I can play at 3:30pm-5:15ish EST Monday Tuesday and Friday. I am good for almost anytime during the day on weekends but may have some issues because I play hockey at varying times on Sunday (anywhere from 2:30pm-9:00pm EST)
 
As I've noted I am still down. I would have checked in the past couple days but I've been wrapped up in AC at the moment. With deep (or relatively deep) story/adventure games like this I tend to want to focus and complete the full experience before distracting myself with other things. Not to mention that I still don't have a head set. Need to figure that one out here soon.
 
Yeah, put me down too mate. The online matchmaking thing is doing my head in though. Many times I've answered some of your replies only to say 'unable to connect to host' or something like that. If we have a set day or time, we could set up a private game yeah? Anyway, I'm all in!

ps. Just started prestige mode (I'm level 21 already!) It blows that you lose all your weapons and achievements, but hey, its prestigious... uh? :D

Anyone going to be on doday/tonight? I'm on GMT and in about 1 hour I'll be on it until 2am (stopping occasionally for eating, going to bathroom, and checking GTP on the PS3).


We got to have a day(s) to gather as many people as possible, I was thinking Saturday - not necessarily this next one. Who's available on Saturdays? I can stay up 'till whatever time needed (or until I drop), if US members are on and join in this.
 
I'm normally on from about 12am-2am (5am-7am GMT) and 11am-12:30pm (4pm-5:30pm GMT) M-Th.
 
I will be on in a few minutes, no homework or anything tonight so I will stop between 5:30pm or 6:00pm EST then can go back on around 7:00pm to 11:00. Then again that is alot of gaming so I may take a few brakes :lol:
 
I think it's a great idea, but my timing will be hit and miss. I never know until I get home if it will be a gaming night or not. Part of the pleasures of parenthood. Usually if it works out, I am able to game at 8 PM MST.

I'd be into it.
 
Yeah, definitely a good idea. I'm on from 8pm every night for sure (gotta get the girls off to bed first). Then I'm on until I either fall asleep at the pad which is usually about 10pm - 11pm. I can ready myself with a couple of stiff coffees, so I can last until maybe 1am? Anyway, let me know and I'll be up for a rumble. Maybe we could have a GTP one-on-one ladder to find the best of us all eh? 👍

On another side note. has anyone seen the 'GPT' clan? I've seen them a few times on ground war, and I can imagine that there could be some rivalry due to the name similarities between GPT and GTP. To be fair to them though, they have been up their for a while now (before the clan idea was bandied about here).
 
I've normally got GTP set as my clan name, until it randomly disappears.
 
I haven't 'met' them yet, what do you think GPT means?

I'm still having the same problem with the Classes names disappearing. :rolleyes:

What do you guys think of the G36C? Is it worth in combat?
I'm currently using either the M16, M60 or the RPD (yes, I like stopping power).

The P90 is pretty cool, especially with some of the perks, but so far I've only been able to use it half-decently on the Ambush map, because it'more in-your-face, usually close combat.

Today I was on a match and this guy pops out of a door in front of me and starts moving slowly away from me (he didn't see me and I was like: "you're sooo dead..."). I aim my M60 (with the RDSight + stopping power + bullet penetration) at him and start bursting fast single shots to just below his neck. The guy turns around and fires; I die.
On the death cam I saw him taking the impacts, turning around and firing a... UZI (!!!).

WTF WAS THAT?!...

@Beerzgood: I haven't got a clue what GPT means pal... I bump into them every now and then, next time I do, I'll ask. :odd:

The G36C is ok, but it has serious stopping power issues. If your used to the M16, M60, and SPD, this gun will leave you with a sour taste in the mouth... (and caps in yo ass!)

Hmmm... that is indeed odd. The M60 is a brute of a gun - easily the most powerful on the game. The only thing I think that might of caused some problems is the RDS Reflex scope. I don't know if its the RDS or if its just me, but I seem to find the RDS is not perfectly aligned to the guns center line. I mean in the code, and not in how it looks on the gun, so I usually use the M60 with plain old iron sights (which are a little unfriendly, but super accurate) . Do you find that bullet penetration helps with your kills?

As for the Uzi, don't knock it mate - Its a powerful gun! Look at the damage, accuracy and rate of fire. I use it from time to time. If you told me that he dropped you from medium, to long range with the Uzi, I would be just as gob-smacked as you are. Up close, the Uzi is a killer! He probably had a 10:1 ratio on bullet impacts too - the M60 has a low rate of fire. Think dugga-dugga-dugga compared to brrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr... Get the picture? Are you online in a bit? I was until a bit ago, now I'm going to my parents' house for some free dinner tonight. 👍

After that, I'm going to try to find a decently priced headset on a megastore just near my house and I'll be back to try it out throughout the rest of the night, so if any of you guys are on, you'll be able to hear me swear both in english and portuguese. :lol:

Yes, plenty of GTP members play this one online, and some more are on the verge of getting it too.

Even if it wasn't, it's definitely worth, a true master-piece. Only problems with it are online, but not the matches themselves, just some issues with the server timing out when you're trying to find a match to enter, stuff like that. Probably to be fixed soon anyway.
But the graphics, sounds, gameplay, etc., are just amazing. It's a great buy. 👍

I'll add you up on my PS3 buddy list already.
 
Most (I probably have them all added) people that post on the CoD4 thread have each other's PSN-ID, so that's basically a non-issue right now, and we're all a great bunch of people. :cool:

PS: You should type in full words (apart some exceptions), otherwise it looks as I'm reading text messages on my cellphone. 👍


EDIT: And for everyone, this idea still stands (better to do it on a weekend as there will be more people available for sure).
But until the patch is available to EU players, it's not possible for US/EU players (addicts better said) to get together, so it should stay on hold until then - February possibly - so everyone can get in.

It's because the patches have to be certified by Sony before release, and Sony US and Sony EU are independent at that.
Sony US cleared it straight away, but Sony EU is taking a lot of time to do it, not to mention that those morons are still on holidays and will be until mid-January...

Yeah this whole EU vs US thing is getting a little confusing and problematic isn't it? I can't imagine no one at IW or Sony did not foresee this exact complication arrising with their patching schedule :grumpy: Oh well.

JIC I'm gonna add "US" before my PSNID just so it's clear for you Euro types ;)
 
lol i was wondering why i couldnt play any of my freinds online....i kept on seeing on beerz psn where the pacth and i was like the pacth for waht...now i understand..
 
Online match tonight 8pm uk time for EU players. I will have my bluetooth headset charged for later. I will send invites to everyone online and wait in a party for already in a match those in a match. If I am not online at 8 don't wait for me, I will probably join later on.
