I've been looking for forum discussions and FAQs on Colin McRae Rally 2005, but I can't find anything. Any fans of the series here? If so, I sure could use a couple of things clarified. Here's a post that I placed on another forum that simply went ignored.

-------

I bought Colin McRae 2005 a while back. I'm just now getting to play it though, because I let a friend borrow it the same day I got it. I have a couple of questions though, for you guys who can help.

1) In Career mode, what's the difference between the events? Some are called Shield, Cup, Challenge, and Championship. Is there a difference?

2) When you play Championship Mode, the format is more like the real rally season, meaning you play an event in Spain, all 8 stages, then move to Australia, all 8 stages, etc etc.... When you play in Career mode, it's all over the place with no real pattern, and I don't really like that. Will the events in Career mode start taking a turn for the "more sensible" like the Championship Mode does?

Thanks!

there isnt much difference between the events in career mode, championships are longer is the main thing.
challenges i beleive is when you do the sort of testing, trying out gearboxs etc.

Its is all over the place in career mode for a while, it starts too take shape a bit later on, its mainly in the 17, 24 and 36 stage championship events where its best....

hope this helps

Thanks. That helps quite a bit. After you mentioned it, I noticed that some of the events on up the ladder seem quite long, the ones listing Xstages in Xrallys for example.

What you're thinking is Challenge is actually the Testing Facility. Challenge is just another type of race, like Cup and Shield.

Do you ever do the shakedown thing in career?
