My friend who works for CodeMasters was round here earlier and said some revealing things about this game. Personally I didn't like CMRae 4 and apparently this one is worse!

There are some 400 bugs in the PC version which was the first port straight from the x-box version. This is one of the reasons GT has been delayed so long. CodeMasters had a deadline that was inflexible and have had to release a game that is full of bugs. It is finalised as of the 23/08 and no more fixes will be made. One of the worst bugs is in Championship mode, you race in several different countries, and if you are you are so far ahead on points you decide to quit the last race, you loose everything :crazy: Not very good because it takes several hours!

If you were waiting for this game, you are going to be dissapointed, colliding with a blade of grass will still stop a car at 100mph.

He was quick to tell me that this is "private information" but since I'm anonymous here and so is he, what the hell! I'll still get a free copy but it will sit with CMRae 4 and gather dust no doubt.
 
I rather liked 04. floaty cars and all. I don't see how 05 could come out as buggy as that, but I would suppose anything is possible.

I have 04 on PS2.

kinigitt you'll be glad to know they have sorted out the floating cars, but now you get floating trees that sometimes clone themselves :) On one setting the trees cloned themselves with a white copy until the whole track is covered in nothing but white trees. :crazy:

The 400 bugs are in the PC version. There was some panic at CodeMasters as they checked to see if the bugs were in the X-box version as it is meant to be finished! While about 200 of the bugs were from the platform change, the X-box version was still riddled with them. The worst being that championship mode thing. That one will really annoy people. Most are just subtle things like wrong textures and missing detail in the backgrounds. The replay feature is odd as well. If you crash, when you watch the replay back, the crash is different! Sometimes instead of crashing, the car drives off the track and then resets, so it appears some where else. :odd:
 
okay... That's not comforting at all.

To clear some things up, CMR 04 was available on Ps2 in Europe, but not in NTSC territories (North America). Same deal for 05, apparently it's an Xbox exclusive here.

What I really want is WRC3 (or is it 4 now?) to come to North America. That game looks sweet!

okay, I own a ps2, so this news article had better mean that the WRC sequels will come out here in North America. Of course SCEE is sony computer entertainment europe, so this could go either way. I just hope they dont make it a euro exclusive license and totally snub ntsc rally fans.

Sucks for people that only own Xbox.
