Depends. Do you want the Chromeline cars? Do you want to read the Apex book? I got the Collector's Edition myself and the cars is only great in the beginning. After a while they're just forgotten. And the Apex book is really useful if you're a race driver yourself, otherwise it's just another interesting read.
And who knows, when GT6 comes out how much it's gonna be worth?
MuRReThe problem for me right now is because Sony decided to block everything USB wise (I like playing other games than GT with Xbox controller) I'm not on the latest firmware which mean that today I cannot download them at the moment.
I read that the expiration date is 31 dec 2013 on the chrome line cars.
Can anyone confirm this?
In my experience you are best off opening something like this now. Otherwise, several months from now you'll get drunk and open it anyway, and feel all sorts of remorse the next day. Best to get that out of the way now so you don't do something stupid later.

s0ul_chickenLife is short - do yourself a favor and enjoy what you have! I had the same thought of "hanging on to it" when I pre-ordered the game, but it was very fleeting...
I love driving my Chromes - they may not be as fast, but they are absolutely beautiful! The book is a great piece of history and information, the die cast looks kickin' next to the PS3, and the keychain sits in its protective case because I don't want to scratch it yet... HA!
So, I got the Collectors Edition for a really nice price.
I already have the standard game and I don't know if I should keep it un-opened or not.
I kinda like the idea of keeping it closed, maybe it will worth something in the future, what your thoughts?
Did I say that?
Yeah you just watch yourself buddy.
Seriously, it's just a game. I bought my collectors edition on day one, and read the Apex book while I was at work that day.
