I have the standard edition but never really got into it. I see there is an academy edition coming out, but also a collectors edition with a decent looking book included.

The academy is going to be £20, and can find the collectors for £18.

So once the.. massive.. updates are on will the collectors edition be the same as the academy edition?

Also I have all the current updates on, if I bought either of the above would they use those installed updates?

Anyone got collectors edition? Any comments?

Cheers

I sincerely doubt you're able to pick up the Collector's Edition for just 18 pounds. At the release it went for at least €100,- here, and that price has only gone up since.

Maybe it`s just me. But I would grab the Academy Edition. It has updates AND DLC included. Google is your friend, just have a look or read the topic here in the NEWS section.

The prize of the Academy Edition is cheaper then the when I want to buy the DLC's seperate haha

The collectors edition is around £20 now, decided on this one as the book apparently is 200 pages and some interesting reading about cars and racing in general.

The academy would be good for the included spec 2, been but it would just mean a longer initial install time anyway wouldn't it? Also the extra academy competition, I know I wouldn't win anyway! The DLC, although good, the standard game will be more than enough for me.

Where? I bought collectors edition for 35 quid earlier this week :indiff:

Edit: Quick Google search and I can only find it for less than £35 used, so the codes for the chromeline cars will have been used! so you might as well get the standard game unless you really want those postcards and that book.

Sorry should have said it was from Amazon direct, on their warehouse deal. It might not include the DLC, but I've had warehouse stuff before that was brand new.

I was after the book as it looks a decent read, what DLC is there I it? Is it any good?

I'll let you know when it arrives if it has the DLC.

Have just preordered GT5 Academy, but am unsure as to how it's all going to work. I assume that by installing it i will i have to uninstall GT5 and all it's data thus losing all my tracks made in the track maker???

Wow. For £18 id get the collectors (if dlc codes are unused). Cheapest I've seen was £34. Im going to pick up the academy edition, I've just started playing the game after bagging a promo edition before release and just never got round to playing. Now Im hooked and want the DLC!

This is a question I have for the gurus as well. I have the standard edition with all the updates on, will I have to uninstall my current GT5, or will I just put the collectors edition in and the collectors edition will use the spec 2 etc update off my standard edition?

So what about if the DLC are used? Still worth it? I'm not sure, but with the book thought it was worth a punt anyway? I'll sell my normal edition of GT5, maybe a tenner do won't cost that much.

You'll not get the extra cars/tracks. You Will with the academy edition.

Well it's arrived and was sealed in cellphone on the outside and the game inside is also cellophane wrapped so taking it as new. Haven't tried yet to see if DLC is there though.

Might not be a bad buy then for £16? Book looks decent.

Now just need to make sure about the updates, do I uninstall my GT game install, updates etc? Oh and learn how to play it properly now ;-)

Well as I expected the DLC was unused, typed in code and got the cars and dynamic theme. The theme mind is a very poor version. No cars in background or anything they could have done much much more.

I got a collectors addition of amazon 2 months ago gor £15 + post and it included an unused code for 5 chromelines exp dec 31 2012. Still not used the code yet as I have the chromes and stealths.

Ebay just before xmas me thinks

I've seen the Collectors Edition for £38.63 on Amazon.

The Academy Edition is listed at £16.97 and they still have a Signature Edition at £249.85.

I found the Apex book to be a pretty good informative read, but damn the print is small! I think they must have designed it to be A4 size, then realised it wouldn't fit the packaging and reduced it to smaller than A5...!

I managed to find a PDF of it though, so I don't give myself a headache trying to read it now.
