We've seen a season of ups and downs. Winning streaks sustained and broken. Usual suspects winning and losing. We've seen an SEC sweep in Division 1 NCAA Tournament action. We've seen every team in alphabetical order ranging from Air Force to Youngstown State. We've seen Winona State have their massive Division 2 winning streak snapped by some upstarts in Wilson, NC known as Barton College. Ususally good teams have terrible years (Denver, Wisconsin-Milwaukee, North Carolina-Wilmington). Great teams not make the NCAA tournament (Marist, Wichita State, Drexel, Western Kentucky, etc.). I've seen my Houston Cougars still stumble against Memphis and almost any Missouri Valley team. I've seen Texas A&M-Corpus Christi put a show on Wisconsin before running low on steam. I've followed teams from the following:

* FoolKiller's Kentucky Wildcats
* StReEtWaLkEr's UCLA Bruins
* Max Powers' Pittsburgh Panthers
* Klostrophobic's Ohio State Buckeyes

...and many others I haven't mentioned. But it's all in a season's work. Nets cut down. People washing off the body paint colors of their favorite school when going to games. People are extending college basketball by playing "NCAA March Madness" and/or "College Hoops 2Kx." It's been a wickedly long season. Now, we review the season that was. Tell me as much as you'd like about what you thought about this season of college hoops and what to look for in this November. Tell me about your most/least favorite games, best/worst performances by your favorite team, what teams surprised you, what players excelled when they had to, discuss lives we've lost of college basketball stars, commend/rip your beloved/hated coach, and more. This is your lookback thread. So let's look back on 2006-2007 in both men's and women's play. Division 1 through Division 3. Cupcakes to powerhouses. Reply on and let's get this thing going.

This thread is a look back on 2006-2007, but I'll also use this to discuss news notes. Some big news took place recently. This is the FoolKiller special:

Tubby Smith out - Billy Donovan denies - Billy Gillespie in.

That's right. Gillespie is leaving Texas A&M for Kentucky. The hopes and anticipations are that Gillespie can return Kentucky to their winning ways. The Wildcats were out of this past season's tournament by beating Villanova in Round 1 and losing to Kansas in Round 2. Can Gillespie help give Kentucky their any more National Championships in men's hoops? We'll see starting this Monday.

In other old news, four of Florida's championship team players have declared for the NBA draft. These include Noah, Horford, Green, and Brewer. So it means that Florida will have to try to win a National Championship without the starting cast that's given them the past two titles. It's also a chance for Donovan to try to coach a new set of guys to glory.

Carry on!

Yep. You boys got Texas A&M's Billy Gillespie. I'm wondering who'll take the seat for Kentucky's women's team since their coach resigned. I may have some surprising news to report in my next post. Let's just say that it has nothing to do with college hoops, but me doing college basketball on GTPlanet.
