Time to start a new week. This is a week in which it's a day since Washington stunned USCal in Seattle. It's a day after Florida State embarassed BYU at their house. This is a day after Kentucky proved they are once again the flagship university of football in the state of Kentucky. It's a day after Virginia Tech's thrilling finish against Nebraska and the end of Utah's winning streak. Get ready for the new week, players!





No games were played today. So let's go on to my NFL Focus.

Nashville, Tennessee - Love 'Ya Blue... but Texans or Titans?
* Houston Texans at Tennessee Titans
This is the "TNT" rivalry. The Texans are trying to prove people that Week 1 doesn't define an entire season, while the Titans are coming off a tough loss in Pittsburgh. This game was absolutely physical and emotional, but the Texans played with much more character and passion than last week, winning the game. (33-30; Houston Texans)

Chicago, Illinois - Pittsburgh Seeks to Cover the Bears With a Steel Curtain
* Pittsburgh Steelers at Chicago Bears
Welcome to Soldier Field in Chicago, IL. The skies were cloudy and later poured rain. The Steelers were ready to pound the Bears into the ground, just like the Cubs' Wild Card chances. Bears may hibernate in colder weather, but not on this day. (17-14; CHICAGO BEARS)

Landover, Maryland - 'Skins Ready to Scalp Some Rams
* St. Louis Rams at Washington Redskins
Now on to a trip to the greater Washington, D.C. area. FoolKiller's Rams will take on the Washington Redskins at FedEx Field. Speaking of FedEx, the Redskins delivered in a defensive struggle St. Louis is now 0-2. (9-7; WASHINGTON REDSKINS)

Detroit, Michigan - MoTown is Tired of Singing the Winless Blues
* Minnesota Vikings at Detroit Lions
The Detroit Lions want to motor all over the Minnesota Vikings like a Ford Mustang (to be consistent with Ford Field). Unfortunately, the Lions broke down and dropping lots of oil while the Minnesota Vikings motored away for the win. (27-13; Minnesota Vikings)

Green Bay, Wisconsin - Felines Prowl the Frozen Tundra
* Cincinnati Bengals at Green Bay Packers
The Cincinnati Bengals are the team you love to hate. Love to call overrated. Love to call bums. Love to put as the focal point of your jokes. The Green Bay Packers just want to send the Bengals back to Cincy with a loss. Cincinnati pulled away to a win as Green Bay failed to find the end zone in the second half. (31-24; Cincinnati Bengals)

Philadelphia, Pennsylvania - The City of Brotherly Love Would Love to Knock Off Some Saints
* New Orleans Saints at Philadelphia Eagles
I admit. I don't know as much as I would like to about Philadelphia. The Eagles are just looking to stay competitive and contend to be in the playoffs. The Saints traveled across many states to try to show their superiority to Philly. Mission accomplished. If you saw a bunch of feathers on the field, it was because the Eagles got put down pretty good. (48-22; New Orleans Saints)

East Rutherford, New Jersey - An AFC Throwdown Set to Begin in New Jersey
* New England Patriots at New York Jets
J! E! T! S! They are the New York Jets, but they play in New Jersey. Probably not enough space in New York City, so they look to a neighbor in the Tri-Cities area. The New England Patriots represent Boston, but play in Foxborough, Massachusetts. So if this is a true NYC vs. Boston match, this would be the NFL's version of the Yankees vs. Red Sox. The Jets needed only seven points to win this one. (16-9; NEW YORK JETS)

Dallas, Texas - The Scoreboard Threatens Again!
* New York Giants at Dallas Cowboys --- SUNDAY NIGHT FOOTBALL ---
My mother HATES the Dallas Cowboys. Let's see if the Giants can make mom happy. It was an offensive shootout, but the Giants stood tall when the proverbial smoke cleared. (33-31; New York Giants)

Tomorrow night, the #4 Mississippi Rebels will play at the South Carolina Gamecocks. The Gamecocks are thinking upset. Whether or not this will happen remains to be seen. Here in Houston, the big match on Saturday will be Texas Tech at #21 Houston. Now I'm fond of Houston and Texas Tech, but I'm squeamish about Houston's chances of taking down Texas Tech at Robertson Stadium. And it isn't like after this game (win or lose) that we're going to run away with Conference USA. They still need to play hard to really go back to the great days of winning the Southwest Conference four times.

I got myself a CD from Walmart on Friday night. It was this CD featuring some of Boyz II Men's greatest hits. It really makes me wonder sometimes just what was lost in translation from one musical generation to antoher. Those four guys were awesome.





That's Friday scores. Tomorrow is my special motorsports-themed score report. Almsot every featured game and score will have a motorsports theme of some kind to it. I was going to make Texas Tech's game at Houston my GAME OF THE WEEK. But instead, I'll feature Miami's visit to Virginia Tech as my GAME OF THE WEEK. Fans of ESPN College Gameday can see the crew on the campus of Pennsylvania State University (a.k.a. Penn State). So go see a game! I'll be alternating between Petit Le Mans and covering college football. If Speed doesn't get too crazy with (male enhancement) commercials, I may get to see a few games in progress. It's supposed to be good weather here, but not at Road Atlanta with showers and thunderstorms expected. Hope our own FoolKiller will stay safe as I try to cover his Kentucky Wildcats taking on Florida.

This is where I make a few quick headlines. Hope you're enjoying this weekend of college football. Here are a few highlights:

* Illinois travels to Ohio State, but left offense and scoring at home
* Miami and (especially) California get outclassed
* TCU claims victory even while two ESPNEWS folk picked Clemson to win at home (dopes!)
* Texas pounds the rock all over UTEP, leaving UTEP only leaving Austin with 7 points.
* South Florida stuns Florida State on the road
* Michigan remains unbeaten; I just didn't know Indiana (of all teams) were unbeaten as well heading into this game.
* What do you know- Temple wins a game against an FBS team in a beatdown! Sadly, it was against the Bulls of Buffalo.
* Maine leads 17-13 at Syracuse... yep, that the 'Cuse for you!

Blacksburg, Virginia - Miami Unafraid to Trade Paint with Virginia Tech
* #?? Miami {Hurricanes} at Virginia Tech {Hokies} --- GAME OF THE WEEK ---
I had a tough time picking between this game and TTU/Houston for GAME OF THE WEEK. But I chose this match because a win can give Miami the chance to return to their former glory. The Hurricanes are ready to go like the wind against Virginia Tech. VT's always ready because the Hokies play at top gear all the time. Virginia Tech made beating Miami look extremely easy, as if the teams who failed to take down Miami didn't know what to do against the 'Canes.

Houston, Texas - Cougars Ready for an Offensive Slipstream Battle with Texas Tech
* Texas Tech {Red Raiders} at #17 Houston {Cougars}
ABC premiered a new funny show called "Cougar Town." While the cougars in that show are about dating younger men after you've turned 35+, a different kind of cougars are all aglow with excitement in this game. Houston is definietely a Cougar Town because the Houston Cougars are ready for their biggest game in a while. Even I didn't think Houston could upset Oklahoma State two weeks ago. Two weeks later, they take on another Big XII team. This time, it's the Red Raiders coming to town. Who'll finish strong? A thrilling finish saw a game Houston Cougar squad beat Texas Tech in a photo finish. (29-28; #17 HOUSTON)

State College, Pennsylvania -
* Iowa {Hawkeyes} at #5 Penn State {Nittany Lions}
ESPN College Gameday was at Penn State for this matchup. It was a White-Out in the rain. The Nittany Lions(21-10; Iowa)

Lexington, Kentucky - Can Kentucky Finally Overtake Florida?
* #1 Florida {Gators} at Kentucky {Wildcats}
Time to see if I can make FoolKiller happy by reporting if Kentucky takes out Florida. The Kentucky Wildcats ars more like a Pagani Zonda R going up against Florida's Gator-powered Bugatti Veyron. The Wildcats might have inadvertently taken out Tim Tebow, but they were leaking oil in trying to contain Florida. (41-7; #1 Florida)

Ann Arbor, Michigan - Unbeatens Clash
* Indiana {Hoosiers} at #23 Michigan {Wolverines}
You'd expect Indiana's men's basketball team to have a great record (except recently), but their FOOTBALL team unbeaten? That's right. Indiana's got themselves a hot rod, as Darrell Waltrip might say. Michigan's got themselves a speed demon, too. The Wolverines will play at Michigan State next week, but must first get past Indiana. Time to see if Joey D's boys got it done. Yep. The Wolverines edged out a win in this closely-contested match. (36-33; #23 MICHIGAN)

SIDE NOTE
Though I didn't see the game (busy watching Petit Le Mans), I do think Tate Forcier is going to be a force (no pun intended) to be reckoned with as he leads his Wolverines to victory. Next week- who's the best team in the state of Michigan? It's the Michigan/Michigan State rivalry next Saturday!


Eugene, Oregon - Too Early to Motor Away From Oregon With USCal Ahead?
* #6 California {Golden Bears} at Oregon {Ducks}
The state of Oregon features one of the loveliest race tracks in the United States with Portland International Raceway. Ready to go flat out are California and Oregon. The Golden Bears see Oregon as a kink on the track as their eyes may solely be on USCal next week. However, the Ducks are like the Laguna Seca Corkscrew- tricky as hell. That doesn't just applies to Oregon's many outfits. But if you ask me, California must have been complaining like Kyle Busch, but the fact is... they didn't show up. Metaphorically speaking, California never reached the finish line all game long. (42-3; OREGON)

Atlanta, Georgia - Yellow Jackets Ready to Wreck Hurricanes
* #24 North Carolina {Tar Heels} at Georgia Tech {Yellow Jackets}
It may not be Petit Le Mans, but these two teams are ready to endure for the chance to win. The Yellow Jackets of the Georgia Institute of Technology think North Carolina isn't all that great, and they were right. The Tar Heels DNF'ed this one because of being down a few cylinders. (24-7; GEORGIA TECH)

Athens, Georgia - Bulldogs Come to Race, Rain or Shine!
* Arizona State {Sun Devils} at #21 Georgia {Bulldogs}
Heavy rains have soaked most of northern Georgia. There was no sunshine, unless you're the Arizona State Sun Devils. Even still, the Bulldogs don't mind playing in the rain. Georgia was singing in the rain, possibly singing a song telling Arizona State to get out of town. (20-17; #21 GEORGIA)

Tallahassee, Florida - Northern Florida vs. Southern Florida Ready to Bump Draft for Victory
* South Florida {Bulls} at #18 Florida State {Seminoles}
It wasn't the classic game of the same name, but the Seminoles choked at Doak while hosting South Florida's Bulls. Florida State dun' blowed a motor, I tell ya what! (17-7; South Florida)

Tuscaloosa, Alabama - Arkansas and Alabama Ready to Ride Hard to Win
* Arkansas {Razorbacks} at #3 Alabama {Crimson Tide}
The Alabama Crimson Tide took out the Arkansas Razorbacks like "The Big One" at Talladega. (35-7; #3 ALABAMA)

West Lafayette, Indiana - Fighting Irish Ready to Tangle at Full Speed Against the Boilermakers
* Notre Dame {Fighting Irish} at Purdue {Boilermakers}
The Fighting Irish had plenty of gas left to take a late victory in West Lafayette against the Boilermakers, derailing Purdue in the process. (24-21; Notre Dame)

Columbus, Ohio - Buckeyes and Fighting Illini Engaged in a Staging Duel

Los Angeles, California - Trojans Try to Recover After Taking a Tailspin in Seattle

The Washington State Cougars may have rode in Mercury Cougars (the old school ones from the '60s), but the Trojans were well-oiled machines in taking good care of the Cougars. (27-6; #12 SOUTHERN CALIFORNIA)

Philadelphia, Pennsylvania - Bulls' Small Block Offense Takes on a Turbocharged Temple Offense

This was big for the Gamecocks to take down Mississippi the way that they did. I don't believe in sloppy or pretty wins... winning is winning no matter how you get it. Congrats to the Gamecocks.

...Truman OWNED 70-0 by #6 Northwest Missouri State!
Truman got hammered in this one. That's ten touchdowns (and ten complimentary extra points) compared to Truman's... non-existant offense?



John's Student Lounge
* (May feature spoilers.) Part of my brain told me to work on my report while watching Petit Le Mans. The race was sadly red flagged and called after about a four-hour delay for really heavy rain. Mother Nature won, but so did Peugeot in P1. The team of Franck Montagny and S. Sarrazin (the #08 Peugeot 908 HDi FAP) was the winning car overall. In P2, it was Dyson Racing who won. In GT2, you could say it was divine intervention as Risi Competizione won in GT2. Divine intervention in the sense that they prevented themselves from finishing one spot ahead or behind the GT2 championship-leading Flying Lizard Porsche. That title fight's going down to Laguna Seca next month.

* I do say I'm a Houston Cougars' fan. And I just want to asy that I'm proud of the Cougars on their win.

Personally, I tend to like the instrumental version better, since I'm more used to it and like it more. But what do you think?

Apparently, the Kansas men's basketball team and football team have some extended rivalry. They've attacked each other in the past and can't patch up their differences. Weird stuff!

Yeah, it really is sad that they would do such a thing. There's not been much info as to what really started the fight, aside from the requisite trash talking. They tend to move in packs, so it doesn't surprise me that they were pretty much all accounted for.

I've actually partied with one of the morris twins. (I THINK it was markeiff) Very chill, nice guy all around. I'm not sure how involved he was in the fight.

Coach Mangino needs to eat them. That'll teach them a lesson.
