One of the biggest issues concerning college football is the fact that the BCS is crap to people. Many people wished it was a playoff system so it can rival college basketball as being one of the greatest sports in America. As of the time I pre-typed this introduction (4:48 PM 12/17/04), USC, Oklahoma, Auburn, Utah, and Boise State are all undefeated with all five schools in the top 10. Many people still think that the BCS is really crap. Unlike a topic like release dates or reverse lights in GT4, this thread will probably be one about an issue not seriously talked about, so let's do it.
You know, I actually think that if we can have a playoff system MIXED IN with the BCS, it would be a good deal to persuade sports reporters and the general public that college football is every bit as exciting, if not more than, college basketball. Many say that we should get rid of Bowl Games like the New Orleans, Hawaii, Independence, and all those bowls in favor of the big BCS games. I think one reason why this may NOT work and why it hasn't worked is because there are so many teams, and the "little bowls" provide money for schools. Teams with impressive performances in the regular season get all the money. Now why did I say "a playoff mixed in with the BCS?" In the case of something like this season with many undefeateds, there could be a poll to decide who's the best of them. If the playoff consisted of the top 8 teams in America, everyone still has an equal chance of playing for the national title.
While I'm still formulating how a playoff system would work in Division 1-A college football, here's your chance to sound off.
