This is John, football fan, and I'm here to quickly report on games. There are many games around the country. Whatever games I can provide, I'll talk about the general results (because a win is a win), a little story, give it a title, do it again for the next game until all are made. The brackets include game results. The home team will be in CAPITAL LETTERS. So let's go!

STORYLINE:
GTPlanet, the essence of college football is heated rivalries. There are quite a few rivalries this weekend. You like college football? Do you like rivalry games? You might like these games. Michigan faces Ohio State. Auburn and Alabama in the good old "Iron Bowl." Stanford takes on California. Tennessee goes to Vanderbilt. Harvard has their annual gentleman rivalry against Yale. Not every game is a rivalry game this weekend. For example, Louisville will go on the road against Houston. Iowa State hosts Kansas State. Read on if you're ready to go for a little ride.

NOTE:
Due to inclement weather on Saturday night here in Houston, I wasn't able to get this off in time.

DIVISION 1-A

*+x GAMES OF THE WEEK x+*

@ "The REAL Big Game" Michigan at Ohio State GTPlanet, there's nothing like it, not only in college football, but maybe in all of sports. It is the annual rivalry matchup among Big Ten powerhouse Michigan, and another Big Ten powerhouse, the... wait. THE OHIO STATE BUCKEYES! It's at the horseshoe in Columbus, OH, USA. If Michigan beat Ohio State, Michigan will play in the Rose Bowl. Trouble is, it seemed like Ohio State was too much for them this year. [31-27; OHIO STATE]

@ "Bringing Home the Iron" Auburn at Alabama Tuscaloosa, AL, USA is the battleground for this intense SEC matchup. Intense it was! The first half was primarily two field goals by the Crimson Tide. It was "Roll Tide Roll" in the first half, but Auburn pulled it out, leaving the Crimson Tide all washed up. Auburn's next stop? Atlanta. And if they win there, Miami.

OTHER GAMES
@ "One Last Chance?" Michigan State vs. Penn State Joe Paterno said he'll still coach the Nittany Lions. More power to you, Joe Pa, as your Nittany Lions beat Michigan State. MSU is now out of a Bowl Game bid. [37-13; PENN STATE]

* "Tesitfy, Brotha!" Wake Forest at Miami (FL) The Demon Deacons were beaten up, down, left, right, side to side, all that... by the Miami Hurricanes. The Hurricanes did more than blow out WF. [52-7 MIAMI (FL)]

* "Not Even Close" Oklahoma crossed the Red River to get into Texas to meet the Baylor Bears. This Big XII matchup well... wasn't close at all. [35-0 - Oklahoma]

* "A Cinderella Story" BYU at Utah The Mountain West leaders, Utah, were at large for a Bowl Game bid. But they face one of Utah's best teams, the Brigham Young Cougars. If Utah wins, they may play in the BCS Bowl Games be it Rose, Sugar, Fiesta, or Orange.

* "Tennessee Titans" Tennessee at Vanderbilt Vanderbilt was ranked as perhaps the most beautilful university in America. [38-33; Tennessee]

* "A Basketball Preview" They stink in football, hellishly impressive in college basketball. But what if you do put them on the girdiron? You have a basketball rivalry that extends to football. And if this game has any significance in football, the North Carolina Tar Heels have one up on Duke's Blue Devils. [North Carolina]

* "Cavaliers " Virginia at ??? Move over, LeBron James! This is a great Cavaliers team as they defeat the Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets of Atlanta, GA, USA. [30-10; Virginia]

* "Blue Rules" Louisiana Tech at Boise State As Boise State tries to remain undefeated, the highly-ranked Boise State Broncos are looking to join Utah as BCS busters. [55-14 BOISE STATE]

* "Return to Greatness" Boston College at Temple Doug Flutie played for the Boston Eagles back in 1984 and would later become an NFL legend. With BC being rebuilt, it took on the Temple Owls, and Boston College cleaned up the Owls as their fight song "For Boston," was playing more than Temple's theme. [34-17; Boston College]

@ "Palmetto State Brawl" South Carolina at Clemson Things were getting cocky in Death Valley. [29-7; CLEMSON]

@ "Choo Choo!" Indiana at Purdue Since the breakdown of the Boilermakers, they've been un-undefeated since losing to the Wisconsin Badgers. Since then, the team gathered itself up and took down the Indiana Hoosiers. BIGTIME. [63-17 PURDUE]

@ "Sunshine State Showdown" Florida Florida State Well what do you know? It's them doggone Gators and 'Noles, ya' hear? These is the annual battle between a good Florida Gators team, and an ACC powerhouse in Florida State. And the Gators chomped away as the defense held against the Seminoles. It was a bigtime upset as FSU was #8 in the nation. [17-10 (?); Florida]

* "Better Luck Next Year..." Louisville at Houston Welcome to our house, Louisville! The Louisville Cardinals are one of the best teams in America even with a heartbreaking loss to the Miami Hurricanes earlier this year. But Houston also lost to Miami, just not as a close game. For a moment, the game was within 8 points, but the game was pretty much over as Louisville simply blasted out into the lead. [6?-2?; Louisville]

@ "California Love" Stanford at Cal No need to deploy the Stanford band as this game wasn't even close. At stake was the Stanford Axe, and Cal keeps its #4 rank as they beat bitter rival Stanford [41-6 CALIFORNIA]

* "Free Pass to Pasadena" Wisconsin at Iowa GTPlanet, here's a weird situation. If Wisconsin beat Iowa, Wisconsin would head into the Rose Bowl on January 1st, 2005. But if Iowa defeats Wisconsin, Iowa would be the Big Ten champions as Michigan would head into the beautiful Rose Bowl. Apparentely, Michigan could have made it into the Rose Bowl and be Big Ten champions by beating Ohio State [IOWA]

NOTABLE DIVISION 1-AA GAMES

@ "Friendly Fire" Yale at Harvard It's called "The Game." Harvard and Yale battle each other in a rivalry about sportsmanship rather than pure hate and school pride. The Harvard Crimson and Yale Bulldogs went at it bigtime. [35-3; HARVARD]

@ "Old Timers" Lehigh at Lafayette Lafayette was able to whip Lehigh in this very old rivalry played about 140 times.

MY COMMENTARY:

UPSET OF THE WEEK:
Some people like the team, some don't. But Ron Zook will be proud to know that his Florida Gators upset the football powerhouse Florida State's Seminoles.

BIGGEST WIN:
My congratulation goes out to the Utah Utes. They are very deserving of being into the BCS. I think the notion of a lesser team competiting among the elites is kind of why college basketball is exciting. But in the case of college football, I would have liked to see Boise State go in there as well, but Utah has a beautiful moment. They head to either the Fiesta or Sugar Bowls.

MOST DISAPPOINTING LOSS:
I have a special disappointing loss. The most disappointing loss this week is the loss of focus and discipline with Clemson and South Carolina as Clemson wins at home.

OWNAGE OF THE WEEK:
Virginia Tech taking down the Maryland Terrapins 55-3. Nuff Saif' OWN3D!!!

The majority of bigtime rivalries happened already, but there are still some good games left this season before the Bowl Games start up. With the Bowl Game bids, I'll release another thread talking about all the Bowl Games and who's going to them. Later, come back to that future thread for Bowl Game results from the New Orleans Bowl to the Orange Bowl. But want to know what big rivalries are coming up next weekend? One of them is simply known as "Clean Old Fashioned Hate" between Georgia and Georgia Tech.
