I've been playing this for about a month I guess, though mostly on weekends. It's a online only first person shooter, similar to Counter-Strike, but I like it better. And best of all, it's free! :)

It's a very light game, runs smoothly on my crappy machine, but the graphics are good.

There is a good variety of weapons to choose from. Machine guns, rifles, pistols, shotguns and granades. You can also buy vests to add a little extra protection, and you can also personalize your weapons with silencers, different scopes and larger magazines depending on the weapon. You don't actually buy the weapons, you rent it for 1 day, 7 days, 30 days or 90 days. I like this as I can buy weapons for a little amount of GP (the money in the game, which you gain from playing) and try them out for a day. I always rent them for a day because I don't know when I'll be able to play, so when I can I just buy the weapons I want and play for a few hours.

There are four different game modes: One Man Army (deathmatch), Elimination (team deathmatch), Capture the Flag and Search and Destroy (bomb planting mode). It supports up to 16 players per room.

There is a ranking system based on your EXP which you gain from playing of course, and as you rank up new weapons and gear become available.

There is also a clan system and a messenger, feel free to add me to your messenger list. My username there is livemusic.

All you have to do to start playing is create an account at their website and download the client, which is around 400MB.

Here's some ingame pics:

Downloading now.

When you say online only, do you mean mutliplayer only? Is it possible to create network games?

I'm not sure but I don't think so. You can make a password protected room to play with friends though.

Yes, it's a scheduled server patch. Should be back in one hour from now.

Maybe they'll add the new map that was released in Korean servers a while ago. 👍

Still down :grumpy:

*edit*

Ummm, hang on. It says it doesn't work in Europe? WTF?

I will only be able to play on the weekend but it appears there is indeed a new map now. Shouldn't be down anymore, Dunc.

This game cannot be played in Europe. They've banned all European IPs.

Really, I didn't know that. This sucks, some online games ban Brazilian IPs too, luckily this one didn't.

You can get around that with proxies, but I don't know if it's worth the trouble.

I used to play WarRock, which is a similar game to Combat Arms, using a proxy client made specifically to that game because it was banned over here.

You might find a similar client to play CA in Europe, I don't know of any and I can't search for proxies here at work as it blocks the URLs. Maybe you can find something in Google. I'll try to find something when I'm at home and if I do I'll let you know.

I was Googleing right now about CA in Europe and it appears it will be released over there soon. Right now the American servers are limited to North America, South America and Oceania. I think Europe will have its own dedicated servers though.

Was gonna make a post about this game but I guess I'll just dig this one back up. Hope no one minds. :)

FatAssBR do you still play? Anyone else plays this? Been playing since November last year. It's such a fun game. Sure it can't compare to games like Call of Duty 4 but it's probably the best free online FPS I've come across.

My username is the_S_man so feel free to add me. I've got a good set of friends that play as well but it'd be cool to play with some GTP members. :dopey:

I haven't played it since december actually. Bought a new PC in january so I started to play a lot of new games I wasn't able to play on my old piece of crap. I thought of installing it too, but I heard a lot of people complaining of cheaters so I decided to postpone it.

Can you tell me if they managed to get rid of the cheaters?

I understand, my laptop has integrated graphics so it kinda limits the numbers of new PC games I can play.

Unfortunately there are still a lot of cheaters. Nexxons doing a pretty good job with the patches so it's not as bad as before where they had people with God Mode, or those who could fly or walk through the walls of the levels. Now all you really get are people who use an aim assist (aimbots) or those who use programs to speed up their characters movement (speedhacks). Like I said, you don't get that many these days but it's still annoying.
