There are several videos on YouTube of Motor Trend of them taking several super cars and doing hot laps on Laguna Seca.

I took the same cars and tried different tires with the closest match being Comfort Soft.

Their times

Aventador : 1:35:4

Mustang Boss 1:41

2013 Nissan GTR 1:36

Ferrari 458 1:36:2

MP4-12C 1:34

SLS AMG 1:40

SRT 2013 Viper 1:36:43

And for all the cars except SLS my times on CS were very close to theirs (only ABS on 1). For SLS they had a different driver which if you watch the video wasn't exactly confident in pushing the car (from his words) but it could also be SLS working better on CS in GT6 - indeed felt pretty planted.

0.5-1.0 second is in my opinion very close match considering we don't really know if they had more margin and as previously pointed we don't fear our lives driving cars in the game.

If I'm able to match their time or get 0.5 sec close after few laps then that for me is a "close match"

I saw people claiming CH is the closest match but with those tires it's impossible for me to replicate their times.

You're much faster? READ THIS FIRST BEFORE POSTING

If you are A LOT faster with the same cars on the same tires - first look at the videos - there are clean fast laps with nothing "crazy" or on the edge - so if you're faster, driving like a maniac shaving 2 seconds after 100 attempts - please don't come here screaming "false! I'm faster than that!".

Also no flaming, hating and trolling please.

Good idea:cheers:

Are you matching real life specs in case the GT car is not quite accurate?

I'd say if one was 2 or 3 seconds faster in GT it would be quite close. No one is driving a street car without a roll cage in real life anywhere close to the edge so 2 or 3 seconds might even be a reasonable gap.

Not checked if the weight is accurate to add the ballast but the power was the same. I guess we could test with 80kg extra - I'm not sure if GT adds the driver weight while on the track.

It's cool you tried this. You are also comparing yourself to drivers who have a bit of pedigree, and might be able to best your laps on the game.

I decided to make a more direct comparison, comparing me to...me. :dopey:

I have 16+ track hours at Laguna Seca, the majority in a 1st Gen MR2 that we run in ChumpCar.

My fastest lap in the MR2 was this past December, a 1:52.859. Tires here are BFG GForce Rivals, 200 treadwear. We're also running 8 inch wide wheels and a wider than stock spec tire, 245's, IIRC.

I just built an MR2 on the game that closely matches our car in Race spec. Made all weight reductions (our car weighs in at <2,000 lbs). Added ballast back to 1,000 kg and distributed it to get 49/51 weight distro. The MR2 in stock form on the game feels nothing like RL, much too tail happy, the real car is stable.

I changed the oil and added a CAI, the only power upgrade our car has. Final specs were 1,000 kg and 142 HP.

Tried the car on the stock C3's, first lap out of the gate was in the 51's, more than 1.0 better than my best lap ever in the MR2 IRL.

I changed to C2's (Comfort Mediums) and was able to get a best lap of 1:52.777, after 3 or 4 laps. (Replay attached). Lap set with TC 0, ABS 1, SRF and all other aids off.

Cornering speeds are similar to RL on these tires, while braking distances are quite a bit shorter. And we run race compound, larger rear rotors, and a balance adjuster.

I would say in terms of grip, 200 TW Extreme performance Summer = C2, in this case.
