Does anyone know if this game will be released in North America? I tried Googling, but haven't be able to get an answer.

From this thread, straight from Eutechnyx, no. At least not at this time. Without flat out saying it, Dave suggests importing a copy, which some here have done.

There is no release date in NA because there is no distributor, they say they are still trying to find one but if they do it'll probably still be a 6 month delay just like Ferrari Challenge was.

I just ordered mine from Gameplay.co.uk because I didn't want to wait.

That's too bad. I really hope they bring it over.

I just read that link to Eutechnyx's forum and it might be coming after all. An Eutechnyx forum member wrote that Sysem 3 has some interesting options pertaining to finding a North American publisher.

Fingers crossed.

I was going to do the same and then I realized that version might not work over here if it's encoded in PAL only and not PAL/NTSC

so if you can confirm it works for you (on a HDTV) that'd be great

A PAL game will work fine on your PS3. The only issues you MAY run into are:
1) I'm not 100% certain if any updates will take through your NTSC PSN account. I believe they will. I originally downloaded the Beta with my PAL account but it's perfectly playable and I was update the latest patches when playing in my NTSC account.
2) If System 3 should decide to grace us with DLC, you may only be able to purchase it through a PAL or specific region's PSN store.

But both of these could be circumvented as well by opening up a PAL based PSN account, which is easy enough (although, technically, Sony doesn't saction this idea). ;) And since pre-paid PSN cards are coming, you could probably purchase them and use them to buy DLC through a foreign PSN store since you no longer have to worry about having a credit card tied to the country where your account is based. (phew).

If you run in 720p or higher PS3 games always output 60Hz.

You will get game updates. I think you even get game patches without being signed in to a PSN account.
DLC is always region specific. It must match these BLES... numbers.

Could anyone confirm that the pal version works on a ntsc ps3? I really want this game but I'm a little nervous about the compatibility. From what I've read it should work fine but if anyone here in the U.S. can confirm it that would be great.

Thanks,
Defm~

I had a PAL version of Little Big Planet. It worked fine and I was able to use updates from the NA servers. I had use my PAL account get the DLC content though.

the thing that made me do the plunge was that whirring Zonda gearbox:

never heard something like it in GT

Of course, the circuit selection for a game is closely tied to the marketing.

SCC is completely set-up for the American market, primarily due to the circuits - Homestead oval, Homestead infield, Autoclub oval, Autoclub infield, Infineon, Virginia. Also throw in the Cheverolette. Strategically, a few extra American cars in future DLC would be a good idea.

If you think the Zonda sounds good, have a listen somewhere to the Konigsegg - absolutely riproaring. Got it to 206mph at Monza. (Surely can go faster on Mugello straight).

Make that 210mph at Autoclub oval.

I suppose. Both Infineon and VIR are nice circuits. But there are so many great tracks in the US: Road Atlanta, Mid Ohio, Road America, Sebring, Miller Motorsports Park, Lime Rock Park, Willow Springs, etc. I think the only reason the Homestead infield and Autoclub Speedway infield (both almost unknown as road courses) are even in the game is because they were both part of the real Ferrari Challenge schedule and they had the license for them. But I don't really care much for either of them. In a sense, most road courses inside oval tracks are really a bit of compromise--Daytona included.

@ Mario: I think theMoose has SCC as well.
