Community page locking my PS3 - Solved

Kia ora guys

When joining my lounge - GT5 freezes.

No big deal right? right.. except it's not only freezing the game, but completely locking my PS3 requiring a hard reboot.

Is anyone else experiencing this issue?

Update: PS3 overlay works fine until I go to my lounge, so much as going to the member list where you join and it has the loading circle and does nothing else. If I try holding the PS button to quit game or soft shutdown I just get a black screen. Issue is not apparent with other titles.

I have cleaned the disk twice now, nothing short of a resurface will make it cleaner. For some reason on the very odd occasion that I remove my GT5 disc it's like it gets offended and acts up like this

Update 2: Drove offline from last update till now, frame rate is completely solid and encountered absolutely nothing out of the ordinary. I then went to community and did not join any lounges, I simply scrolled through the names (or in this case blank faces) before it froze suddenly.

Identical symptoms as previously documented instances.

Update 3: Logged into secondary account - none of the above symptoms are present, joined lounge with no lock up.. Ideas?

PD dislikes your primary account? You may be under investigation . For cereal though I'm not sure but, try clearing your cache through the web browser. It's a odd one but an Idea.

I'm in Oz and am having a similar problem. Go to options/settings/network/clear cache, turn off your PS3, reboot your modem (turn power on/off) restart everything back up again.

My theory is PD is doing some very heavy duty scanning at the moment of anyone on line and this is sucking a lot of bandwidth from the servers and here in Oz/NZ we're already at the skinny end anyway.

Also once I get into a friend's room there seems to be a larger than usual amount of lag at the moment as well.

Online is compromised at the moment as I even had a lock up entering the current Time Trials last night!

This is also assuming you are not trying to use any hybrid/hacked cars or code.

Having never made use of the hybrid vehicles this will not be the problem.

Cheers mate, I'll give it a try. Just happy it's nothing on my end right now because I really didn't want to have to go buy new hardware

Update: Turns out this was the solution! if anyone else experiences this clearing the cache seems to the solve the problem for whatever reason.
