I want to know which car you guys think is better overall. The Jaguar XKR or the MB CLK55 AMG. I want to know which is better in GT3, not in real life. I also don't care about race entry eligibility. I just want to know which car is faster and easier to drive fast, and is just overall better.

CLK55 i'm pretty sure. I would rather use the CLK55 for races than the Jaguar, also price is another factor in it. The Jaguar to me is more of a cruiser, whilst the 55 is more of a racer.

Jaguar, cuz it's light weight and has pretty good acceleration
didnt chose clk55 cuz i think its heavier?

But it is 10k cheaper, leaving it open to power upgrades, and i think it is more powerful than the XKR.

Not modded, the XKR will kick the Mercs arse. I havent got a modded XKR so I cant comment

Well.. he did say overall.....
so i'm guessing... if you slap all upgrades possible on the car, XKR will win..
besides, what can you upgrade w/ 10k
stage 1 turbo, muffler, chip
basically it....
i kno that it will do alot, but now the comparison isn't balanced, because one car is modded, the other isn't

Get real guys. Price isn't a factor, especially 10K in GT3 where anyone who has been playing for more than a month is a millionaire.

I am talking about Performance here, I dont care about ANYTHING else.

I think the XKR is a substantial margin better than the CLK55 in stock form. And just slightly better after a full max tune.

In my garage I have a CLK55 with 612hp and I have an XKR with 445hp. The CLK is starting to show weaknesses whereas the XKR is perfectly balanced, but it does have alot less Hp. I haven't upgraded exhaust because I like the fact that my XKR has 445hp and is literally silent.

OK, performance made to the max, i still prefer the CLK 55 over the Jaguar XKR. Feels nice to me. :)

is that ur answer to everything?
upgrade!!??

:p

Haven't given the XJR a run yet, but the CLK is still a darn good car. I imagine that what it loses in power to the Jag it would make up for in controllability and tire life.

I remember my GT2 Jag was really loose in the rear and chewed up tires like they were bubble gum, so I'm expecting the GT3 variant does the same.

Just a note DS, it's an XKR, so i think it's different from the XJR, or are they very similar?

They can't be too much different, same drivetrain and (I believe) same or very similar engine. It put out a lot of torque, but the car didn't seem to have enough bulk in the back to translate that into forward movement.

EDIT: Oh duh, I see what you meant. That's a typo on my previous post, sorry. :dopey:

The XKR is a coupe 2 door car with a Supercharged 4.0L V8 DOHC pumping out 390hp.

The XJR is a large 4 door sedan with the same engine. But a totally different car that weighs more than 500lbs extra over the XKR.

The CLK55 AMG actually has a 5.4L SOHC V8 with 349hp in North America specs. I am pretty sure the CLK55 has more power in GT3 especially after an oil change though.

The CLK55 doesnt have good weight transfer. With 612hp the back and is loose into turnos and usually pulls you around way too far on most slow corners. I am guessing its weight distribution is 55/45 Front/Rear.

The Jaguar has excellent weight transfer. The suspension is quite soft and it really helps the car out by transerring weight to the tires needing the most grip.

I have the stage 3 suspension on my XKR and I kept it pretty soft in the back so the weight can really load up those rear wheels. I have never had the rear tires on my 445hp XKR slip under any circumstances. I also have Medium race tires though.

Hey since I found these cool pictures on a website, I might as well post them. Here are the cars we are comparing. In case someone needs their memory triggered.

This is probably where the discrepancy is. My CLK has always been kept below the 500HP mark, so that's probably changing the handling quite a bit. In all reality though, the CLK wasn't really designed to handle 600HP so such heavy tuning is probably ruining the car's balance. Really, I think anything over 500HP is more hinderance than help for a road car with an FR drivetrain.

This is where I kinda have to take issue with your comparison. You're comparing a ~600HP CLK to a ~450HP XKR, which isn't really that fair because the XKR isn't hammering down the same kind of power. Bring your CLK down to the Jag's level and give it a try, then see how the two match up.

 However my friend a few thousand can get you two lightwheight upgrades and bang you're as light as the Jag... typo... LIGHTER than the Jag

I just bought a metallic grey CLK55 and I find it amazing. It is my fastest car in my garage, and it took me a long time to save up the money (my priciest car in my garage prior to buying the Benz was my Lancer VI TME). The only problem I had was on Trial Mountain II, I hit one of the rumble strips and my back end fishtailed itself out in front of me, but I didn't go off course because of my excellent driving skils  But anyways, I like the CLK55 alot (what colors do you guys have?) but the only problem would probably be wheight transfer because it is such a big monster of a car, but Lightwheight 1 and 2 and a suspension kit will solve that, and plus, the Silver Arrow in beginner gets you 10k each crack... wont take long to get those uprgrades, AND a set of medium tires :D

My CLK55 is Red. I would've bought black, but it was a really dull black.

My XKR is black. That car looks so beautiful on Deep Forest 2. I recommend to everyone that they take their black XKR's to Deep Forest 2 and watch the replay.

i have clk55 and i havent tried the xkr so i cant say but clk55 is a really good car

They didn't model the headlight area very well. Notice how the sheetmetal surrounding the headlight isn't round.

In the world of computer graphics, the XKR looks much cleaner than the CLK55. Just in terms of graphics, not styling. Although, I do in fact think the XKR looks better styling wise as well.

I think the newer CLK55 AMG looks much nicer with the merged lights compared with the old one, but yes, i do prefer the XKR styling, mostly because of the convertible :)
