I've spent the last month or so wiping the floor with the competition on this event. This is my first post here and its a bit confrontational start but I really want some better races. No-one has outpaced me yet and it's getting a bit boring so I'm willing to post my set-up and if someone tells me how/where is best I will publicly upload my best free run lap on N1 tyres for ghosting practise.

If you can get under 1m27 on free run with N1 tyre then you are in the right area.

My Setup:
Aero F-150 R-200
Damper F-10 R-10
Toe F-5.0 R-2.0
Camber F-3.0 R-1.0
Brake F-10 R-10
ABS 1
TC 3
Gears- Set your own, too much typing ;)

my ps3 id is (surprise) i-Plume so msg me if you want to set up a race (and you can get around 1m27). I work 9-6 though. I race on Logitech driving force EX wheel.

Are you getting 1m 27s with or without another driver on the track? That is, are you getting the draft from another car, to achieve that time?

Nice time regardless!

My best is just under 1m 31s so far, though I just got the F2007 a few days ago.

Think it's a race that most people think ''what's the point''.

Well...I do anyway.

I'd be tempted to give it a go, I used to be very quick in the F2k7 around Fuji but...around Suzuka over-taking is very awkward and I always found myself waiting for slower guys, but then getting hit by slower guys behind me too...and then them not waiting.

If there was a flock of GTP racers it'd be good fun I assume.

if you think "what's the point"...... what is the point of any race? duh.. it's a game and it's fun...meet people around the world with a common interest that is the point

356C:
I'm getting a 1m26.7 in the free run of the current online event i.e. no other cars.
I've not really done a proper time attack that's just from tuning work.

RPM:
The overtaking is a bit tricky as its narrower than fuji but I like the challenge of it more. Passing round the outside up to spoon is fun!

I just realised I used - in my setup but all the numbers are supposed to be +ve except the front toe which is -ve.

The point of any race, in my opinion, is to have close battles.

F1 doesn't provide that satisfaction in my opinion.

I've had some really close races, in the past few days I've had the car. I only wish I could get more than 2-3 people in the race. I'd love to race with an 8 car field of F2007's. :)

IMO, the steering (using the DFGT) of the F2007 in GT5P is superior to the steering in "Formula 1: Championship Edition". I've had great fun with that game, and drool at the though of an F1 game done by Polyphony Digital. If only they had the resources to get GT5 and an F1 game done. I doubt the upcomming F1 game by Codemasters, will be as good as what I've experienced with the F2007 so far. I can still hope though.

Full setup:

Aero Front:150 Rear:200
Damper Front:10 Rear:10
Toe Front:-0.50 Rear+0.20
Camber Front:3.0 Rear:1.0
Brakes Front:10 Rear:10
TC 3
ABS 1

Gears
1st 2.623
2nd 2.152
3rd 1.830
4th 1.570
5th 1.390
6th 1.227
7th 1.099
Final 5.561

These are racing gears mind, I use 7th for slipstreaming.

I'm not sure what to say about the replay being corrupted.
I'm on the UK PAL PSN download version, are we compatible?

No idea about transferring replays sorry.

i love this race because the cars are equal. there isn't one thats more dominant than an other. as long as the PP is the same its up to the drivers. this to me is more fun because i am going to get beat by an other driver not a faster car.

I would love to challenge you on Suzuka as this track is my speciality. However I do not have a wheel and as much as I try to get used to the controller I feel this car requires the wheel due to its handling. I did once record a lap of 36sec flat on Suzuka E using the controller but I cannot be consistent enough to race online.

Just had a go on Suzuka E, got a 35.89 - 8th place in ranking. I hate the understeer on the default setup!

I would advise getting a wheel, the EX I've got is quite cheap and does the trick.

With wheel (G25 and probably with all 900degree wheels) the steering is way too slow in the F1. That's why I don't like to drive it very much. I hope this will be fixed in the next update.

I agree that the steering needs to be faster in the F1 car. In tight hairpins, I shouldn't need to turn the wheel more than 100 degrees off center, yet it currently requires more like 145 degrees. I'm still having great fun driving the F2007 with my DFGT wheel though. I really with we could use the quick tune in arcade time trials.

Hi there I-plume.

Yesterday i saved your setup info...and tried it last night. Before then, on the standard setup i was able to do 1:29.4 however after addapting my driving with your setup, i was able to do a 1:26.575 in a online race with no slipstreaming. I see you are on the rankings and have not posted a fast time...so i have 2 questions for you...

1. Is there any way to use this setup to post a fast lap time trial record?
2. I would love to have a race with you, since the online games are terrible the way guys bash you off, and dont get penalized either.

I play at a friends house, on his account which is Sinbad41...i did all his licences and everything as he is not very good. I driver with a G25 wheel too. I have no idea how to post times online...so could someone please give me a idiots guide to posting a time...please....lol!

Look forward to faster races.
Regards,
Twister42

No, for time trial in the arcade section you have to use the default setup which on the F2007 is horrible imo.

The times you do in the race are not that meaningful because of the artificial speedup you get given at the back of the field. That's why the time I posted above is from the free run section which gives constant performance. I think I remember dropping into the 1m22 when charging from the back after an early spin so the advantage it gives you to catch up is quite significant maybe 4 sec a lap back to free run level and then another 4 secs maybe for the performance when you are way in the lead. Its tough to get 1m30 if you are way out in front.

The only way of "posting" a time on the free run is to upload a replay here I guess as they are not recorded by the game.

I don't know if SA is compatible in the F2007 event with GB, I never see any SA so maybe we can't race?

Ok well let me try it again from the free run then. When i set that time i was in the lead...pretty far in the lead too.

I think the reason for not seeing Sa is firstly its shown as ZA...and secondly Playstation is new here online, so most of the guys i think like my xbox 360 use a uk account. I set it up on sunday and it had South Africa support, so maybe im the first to officially be from Sa, haha.

If you feel like a challenge, then try beat my bike times at www.hotlaps.de for pc playing Superbike 2001. There is a challenge for you, if you like bikes. I kind of killed of the competition there, oops.

Oh yes...and very nice setup you have...thanks for sharing it!!!!
Some of us just dont have the time to fiddle and perfect the car...well i dont anyway playing on a friends PS3. Thanks for the help.
