Hi all, a newbie here.

I've been looking around for the last week or so (My boss is on holiday!!), Very Very impressed with everything here.

Just wondered if someone could give me a quick overview of some stuff like what does 2.0 mean, how do I enter photo comps (Not that I'll be competing against you guys anytime soon), how can I vote for pics.

Just a few one liners would be great

Thanks in advance

Welcome to GTP.

Each competition has its own rules regarding how to submit photos and what you are allowed to do to them with regard to editing.

The best way for you to find out is to read through the first post in each of the competition threads. That should contain instructions and any other info you need can be obtained by either asking in the relevent thread or by PM'ing the creator of the competition.

As daan said.

Basically, PMC rules means only thing you can adjust in the shot after taking it is brightness/contrast.
2.0 rules means you can use a much wider variety of editing tools.

Anyway, every competition states on the first post which tools you can use and what you're allowed or not to do on each shot.

for voting, and since you're a member, just enter the poll thread, view the shots full-size for better judgement, and click the squarer or circle that belongs to each shot, then click the 'vote' button below the shots.

To post shots, visit this thread:

To learn more about how to improve your shots through photoshot or any image editing program visit this thread:

https://www.gtplanet.net/forum/showthread.php?t=78369

...and that's basically it.

I'd suggest looking around the various competitions, read everything carefully, visit some people's galleries, try to absorb as much as you can.

Hope this helps! :)

2.0 just means you can use many of the filters/techniques available in photo-editing programs such as Gimp, Pixelmator or Photoshop.
