ok, i aint stupid, but me and my friend where discussing what concept cars are, i said theyre more computerised, automatic (drive for u) and other things that PCs do, he says their ordinanary cars just look different. so are we both right, or me wrong, him right or me right, him wrong or are we both wrong?

u know, you cant just make a car on computer ( or paper)

then put it into production, you have to test it first, put it into car shows to see what people think,etc...

Most concept cars never see the light of day but some of the technologies do eventually make it - like Honda's hybrid cars, a mere concept a few short years ago.

Like the RX-8...the concept version actually did drive around a track and stuff...Come to think of it, most Mazda concepts do make it out...

Well, I do know the RX-8 and the Nissan Z are both concepts on this game. Both are now going to production.

The Detroit Auto Show displayed the GT40 reborn after over 30 years. They designed that car with a possible realistic shot at the real world in mind. And guess what??? IT WILL BE OUT NEXT YEAR!!!!! That totally thrills me!!! I can't wait!!

Okay, I'm done now.... I think :p

Of course if it doesn't draw much appeal at shows and such, then it will fall away, never seeing the light of production...

Mazda's making a Cosmo remake, much like what ford is doing, this will be based on the Miata, and the body looks just like the old Cosmo...I don't know if there's a release already planned, but I think that they would make it, it's not a radical design or anything...

Well, sometimes a radical redesigning is needed for a car to make production. Sometimes the car in all its original glory will satisfy people. I know some old cars that would be great to have back around again..... Take Mustangs and Camaros back to the old-time bodystyles. That would be a nice start to retro times....

OH, and something else..... All these companies want to make a more aerodynamic car or truck. I know it improves styling and gas mileage, but geez, make the engines a little more economical....

Mazda's Cosmo is a rebodied Miata with the new Renisis engine. It is not a new model for Mazda, it is a limited edition special model. I am not even sure it is made by the Mazda factory. It may be sub-contracted. But it looks sweet, no!?!

E6KT2-I know that it's a rebodied Miata, but I'm pretty sure it will be made by Mazda factory, I think I saw a pic on one of thier sites about it...

Here's a PC generated version:

I couldn't find any other info on it...but I'll look more later...

A concept car is just that. A concept. An idea. It can be a concept at any stage in its life until it becomes a production car. Good examples are the Audi TT, which was a concept that made it into production a few years later with very little changes.

I like that explanation aljones.... Very simple, but informative.

I saw a commercial for Ford Motor Company earlier tonight. They had the new GT40, in Gulf trim. Red, white, and blue looked quite nice on the new body style, or slighty new anyway :burnout:
