if a right click on a pic and select,"paste as wallpaper" or whatever its called, does it store the pic on your computer??

cuz over time, the files will build up,and slow my puter, and ill get mad....

BTW-i got a 2 gig hard drive,so you see why im so concerned, because i change my wallpaper alot

depending on the OS, it could be in the

c:\windows\temp
c:\windows\temporary internet files
c:\windows
c:\microsoft\internet explorer\temp

Try using the Start->find and search for the filename of the latest file you just selected as your desktop. That would be the easiest way to find out where they're being stored.

In 98, ME and XP when you store a picture as your wallpaper off the internet it makes it a temp file and each time you set a new one, it over writes the old. (Not totally sure about XP, but reasonably so)
In answer to your question, I don't think it's cluttering up your system.

Also, as Tom mentioned, if windows renames the file when you copy it or "set as wallpaper", you could search for gif or jpg files within a certain date range. If/when windows renames the file, it would date stamp the file with your current system date. You would then be able to investigate where in fact the image is being stored.
