If you have access to a PS3, I highly recommend you download one of the top times from the GT academy servers and marvel at how they are throwing the car into the corners with little to no effect on the cars behaviour. This is a competition to find a racing driver, you drive any car like they are doing in this competition it would have no tyres left on it after one lap. Not to mention you are allowed and active steering aid which effectively corrects any steering errors. The real driving simulator my back side!!!!!!

Although I agree with you that how they're driving wouldn't work too well in real life, the same happens on Forza and many other so called sims. Most of Forza's top times the driver will turn in to the grass to throw the car in to the corner which you never see real race drivers do.

I've never felt much difference when I've tried the active steering on GT5 but some people have told me that it makes it a little easier to correct yourself so I guess I have no argument against that.

Although Lucas Ordinez is now quite a successful sports car driver it does seem silly how much you have to break the laws of physics to put in a top time, every time I try to go back to GT5 I get annoyed at the physics and turn it off after 5 minutes

I'm with you there! I tried it yesterday, and only turned 3 corners before I'd had enough.👎
That doesn't mean I think Forza's perfect, I've been feeling a bit bored of the Forza model lately:ill:. That's why I gave GT5 a go!

I have played the new seasonal races in GT5 this weekend. And it was amazing to me how big the difference between GT5 and Forza 4 is. In GT5 the cars seems to drive on rails. Extremely stable. You can drive them without much wheel movement at all. In Forza 4 I have to struggle to keep them on the track. I dont know which of these games is closer to reality. I would say that reality is somewhere between the 2 games.

But the consequences are much more important to me: GT5 is boring! And that is not just because of the physics. Also the tracks, the sounds (car, tires) and especially the way I have to avoid any crash with another car or leaving the track makes Forza 4 so much more exciting.

So unrealistic. I'd hardly call it a simulator if you can turn off physics. :p

I'm not the most qualified to comment on this topic, but I've have both games and I use a controller. GT5 cars in the higher levels are a lot easier to drive with my controller than in FM4.

IMHO

I dont agree with this. Have you ever tried driving the Zonda R on GT5? that thing was crazy.

^ I had more trouble with the McLaren F1 GTR and Nissan R390 GT1, they were hard to drive and even more so when you're racing others and have the pressure of going fast without spinning out.

I found some cars a lot easier to drive on Gran Turismo but then some have been much easier for me to drive on Forza, overall I'd say I found the cars harder to drive in GT5 than Forza. (Using a controller on both games with all aids off)

That the physics in GT5 are not perfect is no surprise to anyone and the GTA proves nothing more than that.

This thread is liable to cause more trouble than it will benefit the site.
