Hey guys,

got myself a ps3 finally and hooked it up to our TV in the living room.
But the living room is mostly occupied, i cant really use my ps3.

I got an Acer Highend Laptop and was wondering if there are any connector
cables yet for combining those 2 machines.

I asked today in a store for a connection cable but the guy in the ps3 section told me that there are no such cables yet on the market.

Didnt really believe the guy but said thanks anyways LOL

So i wanted to ask you guys if you know anything and could help me out.

Thanks so far

Chris

Given I understand you correctly, you want to display the picture of the PS3 on your laptops monitor. That's impossible, unless your laptop has a graphics input, which I have never ever seen. If you post the exact model however, I'd have a look.

I've seen laptops with both SVHS and composite input, so they do exist..

What you need, if you have one of those inputs, are a regular SVHS or composite cable for you PS3...

APPARENTLY you can use this...

Never tried it myself but it makes sense, its meant to be used for capturing DVD output, etc but all it does is take a composite (3-pin, red, white & yellow) connection and display it on to your monitor using the supplied software.

As I said, I have NOT tried it, so I cant say if it really does work!

But if you can find something like that in the United Arab Emitates (thats where your location states you are) then buy it, try it and if it doesn't work take it back. If it does, then let us know.

Like I say, it should work in theory, but I havn't tested it personally.

THank you all for your posts!

I just read the discreption on the link you gave us and it also looks possible to me.
I'll try looking for it now, i'll be back in a bit and let all of you know. (and also the price) :dopey:

And by the way, I got the Acer Aspire 5920G ;)

Thanks

Chris

EDIT:// So, didnt wanna add another post so i just edited it. :)

back home from my shopping spree for that cable but it didnt turn out the way i wanted it to be.
I've been to about 5 shops and none of them had it... i guess i'll just get myself an HDTV for my own now.

Thanks no matter what guys

Chris

Just a heads-up, a USB capture device will probably have lag, making it unplayable. I attempted this with my old laptop with an ATI All-in-Wonder USB 2.0 for possibly making some Halo machinima. It was completely unplayable and since then I only used it to record a couple of TV shows.

... and the picture quality wouldn't be very good either, at least not for PS3 standards. But it looks like this case was solved already.

You could get the playtv box 3 from Pixelview (discontinued).

I still have one!

:)

I played PS2 on a Dazzle DVC90, looked kinda crappy and no fullscreen, but a maximized window gave no recognizable lag. But you would be better of buying a small TV.
