Conquered everything GT1 has to offer, am I ready for GT2?

You know what I'm talking about, lol.
The infamous Licenses that are the bane of my existence for every GT game.
By some miracle, I managed to get all Gold in GT1, but GT2 is a different game.
Am I even ready for it, or is it harder to pull it off?
For the record, I'm an average player, that plays all kinds of genres, so I'm not a racing specialist of any sort.
Thank you for your reply!

So you wish to gold every GT2 license...! Well, good luck! It's gonna be much, much harder. I've done it, and it was a trial. Not just because there are six licenses to do instead of 3, but some of the ones in GT2 are among the hardest in the franchise. Still, if you could all-gold GT1, I think you'll figure it out.

The thing is, I've done GT1 on Automatic, and I also kinda used some mechanics too to get desired outcomes (One physics mechanic I used was to bump the rear of my car during corners to stop drifting and allow me to accelerate with maybe a minor drop in speed, but it still will allow me to start gaining speed instead of wasting time for the drifting to stop), not sure what the name of such technique is called, though...

Anyways, do I still have a chance on Automatic? Or is it more preferable to do so in Manual?

Thanks for all your replies as well :)

Automatic transmission is always more of a limitation. It's not impossible to gold everything with AT, but you're trading control over your car for convenience. Shifting yourself lets you decide when and at what point to change gears, and especially avoid untimely upshifts or downshifts. There are many situations in license tests where it's more advantageous to hold the current gear a little longer and where an auto would shift up and deprive you of a little torque for a brief moment, potentially costing you the difference between a silver and a gold time.

Ultimately, it's up to you, but if the option to play manual is there, I would always use it. Having more control over your car is worth the learning curve.

There are also some of the opposite, where early shifting gets you more acceleration.

Oh yes, I do understand it kinda limits you, and indeed is for you to be at a more relaxed phase instead of paying extra attention to gear shifts.

I was wondering, does GT2 have the option for semi-auto? (By that, I mean playing in Automatic, but being able to downshift on demand when you utmost need it)

Sadly no, it's full-time AT or MT only.

Actually, I was thinking...
Wouldn't it be the true challenge to do Licenses in Automatic if it limits you?
With Manual, you get more advantages, which Automatic doesn't have, the only downside of Manual being more input.
With that logic, wouldn't Automatic be the way to go?
