Since I first played GT on the PS1, I felt that the 0-100% throttle and brake controls offered by the square and x buttons were unsatisfactory, especially when using the higher powered cars in the game. Finally with the PS3, we have "trigger" type buttons in the L2 and R2 and I've found that L2 brake, R2 gas, and the right analogue stick up and down for shifting is the best controller setup for me. I'm curious to see what other non-wheelin' GTer's are using for controls?

Before i started using a wheel again i was using the exact same set up as you on my DS3 pad, also;

D pad for steering, Left stick, look left/right. Very important for online racing. :)

I use L2 for brake, R2 for gas. L1 is gear down, and R1 is gear up.
I just ordered a G25 and a Wheelstand Pro, so now i am awating its arival like a litle kid waits for his cristmas presents :)

Personally I use L2 brake, R2 gas, and i have look left mapped to square and look right mapped to x, I suppose if i used a manual trans i would map shifting to the right stick, that seems like the most natural layout to me

the brake and gas button is pressure sensitive..... i have been playing with the controller for years.... and im not going to switch. I have a DFP II, but meh i don't play the game enough to get very very good with it.

I was never good with the pressure sensitive buttons, i prefer the shoulder buttons, i guess i got like that after playing gta4. I aso had a DFP but i ended up returning it cuz i just got too frustrated with it
