I was looking for a top 10 ghost to use last night and was surprised to see only two of the top 10 used a wheel ... looked online today and about 80% of the top 250 used a a controller. It's usually the other way around. I can only assume those two hairpins are easier with the stick.

I have not driven with a controller in months so won't be going back, but thought it was interesting.

Take a look at the replays... these guys are SLAMMING into the corners to "brake" instead of braking normally.

Reminds me of the good old days of GT1. Riding along the barriers was the fastest racing line for me :sly:.

It sure would be great if someone could share their car and setup details for the current seasonal Madrid Mini TT event. I'm using the Honda Integra at the moment but still find it hard to get Gold in this.

Gt is a driving simulator how many cars can hit a wall at 100 mph plus and carry on racing come on pd get a grip

It's still a vide game designed to appeal to regular gamers and racing enthusiasts. If they made it so cars blew to pieces at 100+ crashes they would have to make it so the cars would break at 20mph crashes too.

I think if it was going to be the best 'crash' simulator then we would have to give up a lot of tracks and detail. It's not perfect, but I still think it's a decent trade off for having such a great game in other areas. my 2 cents

Madrid TT is another TT which got ruined by cheating.

I still can't find the 0.6 seconds I need to get gold driving legitimately, I might need to watch the replays..

For me, I get gold, take the money and run, and the Integra RM is fine for that purpose. What I don't understand is why go to all the effort of flagrantly breaking the spirit of the event when the entire gaming community is getting a chance to see what a palooka you are.

All I was trying to say if people don't want a sim they should play something else if they want to RAM walls buy a game not a sin pd say its a sum not me quote gt5 the real driving simulator

I found the controller had less (thumbs) movement for left & right, brake & accelarate and hence faster response for controlling. But it has no feelings of driving as it is with a wheel.

In my opinion i think thats a myth, The controller is sort of "jerky", but for the wheels it's really smooth. I just recently got a wheel a couple of weeks ago, and after practicing on it for a few days, i saw a dramatic improvement in better lap time, races, ect. i have been racing with a DS3 ever since the very first gran-turismo came out, and for me to only have practiced with the wheel for maybe about a week and win races is pretty darn good, but everybody is different, some people are fast learners and some people take a little bit longer.

Hey all, I'm on that top list at number 15 right now (was num 8 when i got the 0:53.897 :grumpy:) using the wheel. I'll have to look at the specifics of the tuning, but honestly it's not very special. It's all about smashing into the corners as other people said.

My car was The Honda Integra w/ racing mods and all other upgrades possible, but NO turbo. This gave it somewhere around 300HP that was tuned down to 295. I think I had the front at maximum downforce. Also the max speed was tuned down a bit to about 143mph i think. With 143 you should hit max speed right before you need to "brake" into the first turn. I had the 1st place ghost time to race against and it was pretty much even.

I haven't tried the celica, though I have it. I tried a racing modified '97 civic which has about 100kg less weight than the integra, but it wasn't as good. Plus i like the integra (have an rsx type-s myself) which is why I even tried the TT originally.

The real trick is tapping the handbrake right before smashing the wall on the first turn. This puts you in the correct direction to accel out. The first place time has a ridiculous first turn which is why his is so much better than 2nd place. On the first turn, don't hit the red/white striped barrier or you'll be DQd. You don't need to brake at all on the second turn just use the wall. The third turn is similar to the first. I slam the regular brakes to slow up a bit then tap the handbrake.

It took me about 2-3 hours of trying to get that lap time. I feel like it's mostly luck but I would also have several 54.X times in a row every now and again.

Hope this helps, good luck!

edit: Traction control 1 was probably the most important setting. Otherwise you will need to be really careful w/ accelerating because the comfort soft tires will just spin.

Gold is not too tough with the tuned RM Integra. Try it. No need to smash or rub walls to get it. Even handrake is unnecessary. Following driving line shld net the gold.

I think they should enable full damage on these TT's in order to get rid of wall riding.

I 2nd that & have being saying that since last week it should not be a option it should be standard for all Seasonals along with track cutting penalties just like normal online events if you turn it on.

But for Seasonals its should be locked on that will end all cheating I would hope.

I did a 1.56 without hitting walls so I was happy with that, anyone with times in the 1:54,s or 51,s are not worth taking any notice of.

Seing as PD have being doing a lot of online work of late with the servers I can only hope some of this is leading up to putting a end to the cheating thats going on & making it fair for those who are willing to practice & get there time down without cutting the track or sling-shooting off barries.

Madrid TT as been a bad one for this type of event, as far as the other TT as gone & from the Replays I have seen they were good laps by the top drivers.

But then I think that you got a red time if you went off track on that one.

All these fixes take time & PD must be very busy fixing this part of the game.👍

Amazing, you make cheating sound like an achievement.

We had a recent WRS race at madrid mini, where one controller user almost beat a wheel time (driven by me). Because of the short nature of the track, only 3 corners really, its easier to get close to the ideal times.

I tried this event, golded it on my third run by accident.. I smashed the first wall by mistake and that was it, gold!
And then I looked at the relplay from the leader and he is smashing every wall, how fun is that??
So no more Madrid TT for me. :yuck:

Any ideas what the fastest legit time is? I've got a 56 dead and I'd like to improve somewhat by checking the replay.

+1

Yeah they deffo need to do this, cheating just ruins it for everyone. Hopefully this gets noticed and they change it.

I fully agree. Whats the point of a leader board where everyone cheats. also think they need 3 boards. 1 for overall. 1 for steering wheels and 1 for ds3 makes it fair to everyone
