I have tried looking for this in the forum and found no similar problem found. I have the full install, both updates, and have passed the 65% complete mark..I went into play Arcade mode, 2P battle and the second controller is inoperative (everything except the 2 joysticks). I have tried reconfiguring to make x and square, r2 and l2 work and tried again... nothing worked. My friend ran into a wall and he had to roll backwards down hill in order to back up because reverse didn't work. Has anyone had this happen before? and is there a fix for this? Thanks!

Reset your controller their is a little button on the back of it try that out but if not good luck

I have tried 2 different controllers in positions 1 and 2... and every time we race, the #2 controller loses all but the joysticks..... I have tried resetting them, changing the controller settings, and nothing yet has worked. :banghead:

I can't even go past the main menu with a G27 or DualShock controller. I don't know what's happening as well.

I think this is your issue, hope it helps:

Last night, I launched the game and got no error messages at all, but my controller was unresponsive. The icons were there and the background demo was active. I noticed that the news notification area was blank though.

I unplugged the ethernet cable and immediately got back controller function. PSN login and other online elements of the PS3 were working fine, but not GT. I restarted the game a few times and re-plugged the ethernet cable in a few times to no avail. If the console was connected to the network, the controller would not function. Finally, I completely powered off the console (with the switch in the BACK) and rebooted and it worked, but I don't know if I got lucky with multiple attempts or the cold boot did it. While I was working this out, one of my friends was having no problem, while I saw others constantly logging in and out.

My guess is that they are hitting very high traffic because of the release of the game, and for some reason the software is waitng for news updates, gifts from friends, or such before loading functionality. Unfortunately, the attempt doesn't seem to time-out (give up and give you your offline game).

Network related problems? If you're only playing gtmode locally put your console in offline mode by disabling Internet access.
