my preference:
-R2 as e-brake

configure the rest to what your comfortable with. it will most likely change the location of the throttle and brake but move things around to what you can work with.

I have to try it but I was hoping for people to post their opinions if it can make you faster has in reaction time when online.

Reaction time has to do with you reacting within the game not the controller, but like rip said you can configure it to your liking and you may improve with your reactions.

I changed my e-brake to a more comfortable position so there's a more fluid "release" movement. It helps me get better launches.

Play around with the settings.

One tip I was given for setting the controller up for the best launch is to set right stick down movement as the handbrake (I assume it works for left/right/up aswell) if you pull the right stick down very slightly then rev the engine the car will not move, but the handbrake icon in the HUD will display as off, then when you let go of the right stick the car seems to launch quicker than when launching from full brakes on.

It seems to work but I dont know for sure if it is quicker or if its just in my head, I dont use this method though as I have right stick up shift up, right stick down shift down. So I just launch with the handbrake (Circle for me) or slightly pressing the brakes (L2) so the red bar is under half way full.

Ha, you wont even tell him what button you use for e-brake.

This forum cracks me up.

That (button configuration) seriously is just a matter of personal preference. I personally use r1 for e-brake, l2 & r2 to shift, and right stick up/down for gas/brake. There's no magical combination to use. You will benefit most from what is most comfortable to you.

Exactly.

There is no "magic" configuration to make you faster. I gave him the outline he should look for when setting it up. His hands may be bigger/smaller than mine so the buttons should be adjusted accordingly.

Now take your snarky remarks elsewhere.

at one point i had 75% of my controller as ebrake. just kept the basic accelerate/brake, steer and shifts. every other button was ebrake lol

I put my ebrake at down on right analog stick. Also have it on R1. If you cant coordinate your right index and thumb you can use your left hand to hold down the right analog stick.

Poor mans trans brake, LOL!

My set up is
L2/R2 =brake/accel
L1/R1 =gear changes down/up
O =handbrake
That's about it...
Oh.. My favourite
