i have seen cars before when you get them it shows them as conviertiable but when u drive them they have roofs up... i am guess GT5 is reconising how unrealistic racing with ur top down is....i think its stupid

Why cant you drive em

I assume you're talking about with the top up or down, because I have no problems driving Alfas, Cobras, or any car for that matter.

The Ferrari California is much better-looking when the folding hardtop is up (go to GT Auto and fit a spoiler).

Yes, but the wing makes ruins the sophistication. I would like to have the choice of a hard-top without that wing.

It also puts more load onto the system having to show everything that the driver is doing.

In GT4 you could race with the top down, but as a time trial.

It shows everything the driver is doing regardless if the top is up or down. And there are some cars that doesn't have a top, or that can be driven with the top down so I don't think it's a load issue.

It's probably just a decision they made because the sensible thing would be to race with the top up. At least if the goal of the race is to be as fast as possible.

I didn't know there were convertibles in F1.

There's more than one definition for convertible, you said "with the top down" , not convertible in my quote, "the top down" means absence of a roof, and it was joke...

Well... technically speaking it means that there is a roof and that it has been taken down. But in the same way as tomatoes doesn't turn into ketchup just because you crush them, I guess this too can pass for the purpose of a joke.
