There's been a little talk about future games in the GT series, what we'd like to see, and the changes we hope for (This thread is not about what we want to see in the future)

What it is about are the things I've seen in the collective updates that lead me firmly to believe that what we will see in the future will have it's framework from GT5; like it or not.

It's not the major stuff that we've seen change, most of which are fixes to the problems the game has. It's the "trimmings" that lead me to believe this is going to be it going forward. Here's the logic...if you were going to completely dismantle GT5 and build future games from a different framework why would you put little "bows & trimmings" on GT5?

For example; have you noticed the profile picture with the winner's trim in the lower left hand corner of the screen after a remote race?

What about the new suits & helmets? Why add those to a platform you were going to abandon?

Why add the "recently driven" sort?

There are a few more "little" things they've added since the release that doesn't make sense to add when you've got more major things to worry about like the Endurance saves.

All-in-all it leads me to believe GT5 is going to be the framework for GT6 and beyond where you'll see the major fixes on the next title.

Does that mean A-Spec, B-Spec, Online, Specials, Seasonals & License? I think so.

I completely agree with you. I would and could go on in more detail but it would just be a re-wording of what you have already said, but a little thing I would like to add is: gt5 pushes the ps3 pretty hard and we can agree in this. What I'm wondering is with Kaz wanting another two years could they have been holding gt5 off for the ps4? It makes sense. Those two years could have added a handful of premiums, tracks, and bug fixes. Gt6 will possibly be a revamped and fine tuned gt5 for the ps4 taking advantage of the better system capabilities.

All the odd GT games contain less than their succesor because they are the groundwork for the next game. I can't see PD waiting for the PS4 for GT6 unless they add a huge expansion to GT5 in a few months time (like a GT5.5).

Working in retail technology for the largest restaurant chain in the world, slow rollouts assures less issues especially at a global scale. Each of these enhancements will add up and I believe you're correct as gt5 being the platform that future gt release will add on to. Think of half-life and the way they have episodes and modifications (portal, left 4 dead, tf2, cs, etc.).

Very true. Kaz wanted most of the features that were left out to just be in GT6.

In one of his interviews Kaz said some of the features of 5 were next generation. I'm in complete agreement with you. I think Prologue was all they were planning for the PS3. GT6 at the release of the PS4 makes perfect sense. You've gotta motivate people to buy a new console and GT6 would be part of that answer.

Also read an article that the way to be #1 in console sales (PS3 is currently 3rd) is to be the first out with the next gen console. Wii has already announced.

My feeling has always been that there would be some lucrative DLC in the offing and that after a mixed response from fans, PD were keen to keep us interested in the game, enough to buy some new tracks, etc.

Alternatively, they may just be wanting to keep people happy so that they put in pre-orders for GT6.

Having played these games since the original, I agree with the OP. GT2 was built on GT, and GT3 was built on GT2 and so on. So, I see no reason why GT6 (if there is one) would be radically different from GT5.

But, I wouldn't hold my breath for a release in 2012 because PS4 is probably due out soon and I'm sure a premier developer like PDI would want to wait for the new hardware.

That's exactly why GT6 in 2012 makes sense.
Exactly.

OH! so close. If you think PS4 is coming out soon, even in the next 2 years, then no. PD would want to wait for new hardware, but it's not coming for another 4 years about, maybe at least. It hasn't even been a full 5 years since PS3 was released.

The first part was right.

It is always harder to build the first iteration of a new game engine and a new game for the next generation of a console. Now that GT5 is fairly solid groundwork, hopefully the developers can focus on including a lot more content and online stuff for GT6 or an addon for the current release.

I would buy either in a heartbeat, and most people here will as well. Despite posting otherwise.

Exactly.

yea we probably wont see ps4 for about 3yrs, so i think we might see either gt6 within the next 2yrs or a BIG expansion on GT5...i think PD will release something before ps4s arrival
